Expert Tips and Fascinating History
If you've never played Scrabble before, the Gameplay Guide explains the rules in a clear, easy-to-read way. It also has lots of tips to sharpen your game (a list of "q-without-u" words, for example). The sturdy plastic board needs no assembly and the storage trays cleverly built into the bottom of the board are easy to find, especially with help from the Gameplay Guide. The game also comes with a Gameplay Guide that offers many helpful hints, as well as interesting historical tidbits (For example, did you know the game used to be called "Criss Cross Words?")

A Sleek New Look for Scrabble
The black-and-silver tiles, the smoky red racks, and the velvety tile pouch give this Scrabble set a touch of class. The curvature of the racks help you to see your letters more easily than you could on the old, straight racks. During gameplay, the raised grid will help keep your tiles firmly in place, even when the board spins towards another player. The pouch helps keep all the letters and racks together during play. Put them in the storage trays when you're done, fold the board back up -- and voila -- you have a carrying case that makes this deluxe Scrabble game easy to take with you.

Fun and Functional
We really liked the look of this colorful board, with its cheerful blue, green, red, and orange "premium" squares. We also appreciated the way the set folds up into a carrying case, complete with the storage trays and handle. It's not advertised as a travel set, but you can use it that way. You just have to be careful to hold the set closed when transporting it, since it doesn't snap shut. Also, the storage trays can get a little full when you try to put all the letters and racks in one tray, so make sure you tuck everything neatly into the tray so it will close.

Millions of people around the world love the game of Scrabble, and we're sure they'll be just as happy as we are to see this new, improved edition with features that make it both more fun and more functional!

What's in the Box
Scrabble board with two built-in storage trays, 100 letter tiles, tile pouch, four racks, and gameplay guide.

4 out of 5 stars Scrabble, Diamond Anniversary   November 21, 2009

Nice edition, compact, nice storage drawers, tiles are good, only complaint seems to be from a purist point is that the colors are not original, but I have no problem with that, this is kind of a fun version, seems to be built sturdily too.

4 out of 5 stars best travel scrabble board yet   November 19, 2009
Anne M. Pontuso (Charlottesville, Virginia United States)
My family and I are big scrabble players but we have been unhappy with the last three travel scrabble sets that have produced on the market. When someone lent this set to my aunt who was in a rehab facility, we were delighted with it. It is the prefect set for travel. The one big issue that everyone has with this set is that they changed the colors of the word scores on the board. We now have to look closely to see if we are on a triple letter or triple word score. So seasoned scrabble players won't like this board for that very reason. Other than the change in color, the board is light weight, easy to pack up and travel with, the letters stay in place even in the wind (we play on the beach) and the board turns nicely. All in all it is a good set.

4 out of 5 stars Scrabble, Diamond Anniversary Edition   November 18, 2009

I LOVE that this scrabble game! It is self contained and easy to take on trips. I have wanted a board with a built in "lazy Susan" for awhile now. I also wanted a board where you put the letters into little "depressions" so they don't move when you move the board. This game meets all my requirements. What I don't like is that the letters have a black background.

5 out of 5 stars Great Board   November 18, 2009

I love the drawers on this game it's so handy for travelling! In the drawers you also fit in paper for scoring and pen...dice for playing yahtzee and cards...making it a complete portable game centre. And because it's all plastic you can take it anywhere and not worry about it getting dirty. We take it camping! Love it!!

3 out of 5 stars Design Quality   November 12, 2009
Arline D. North (yarmouthport, ma United States)
Fine idea, but some of the tiles are very poorly printed, and hard to read. The game design itself is great.
