This mahjong set is styled to have the look and feel of a traditional American Bakelite set. Buttery tiles sit atop comfortably beautiful wooden racks, and a wooden rosewood veneer case with felt lining gives this set an understated elegance. This set has 166 tiles, including all the 144 tiles for classical Chinese play as well as an extra 22 tiles for the American version of the game. With this set you can comfortably play either version. To play the Chinese version simply use the red dragons as the 'hong zhong' and the green dragons as the 'fa' tiles.

This is the second Mahjong set I have purchased and it is superior in the design of its tiles - easier to pick up and easy to read. The tile racks are also full length and easy to use. It's also very sturdy.

After much research and shopping for an American Mah Jongg set, I selected this one. It is beautifully presented in it's carrying case and the interior organizers. The tiles are wonderful to play with and there are also extra tiles, just in case! A lovely sset that all ages will enjoy.

This Mah Jong set definitely is NOT a toy. I belong to a club of Mah Jong enthusiasts residing in Thailand. Members range from those just learning the strategies of Mah Jong to those who have played in the casinos of Macao (Macau). Needing a Western Mah Jong set, impossible to find here in Thailand, this set was ordered through Amazon and brought to us by a visiting friend. The case in which the set comes is stunning -- a red wood case with brass fittings. The tiles are a bit on the smaller size but easily played with. Well crafted pieces. Even the most discerning Mah Jong player will be proud to own a set of this quality.

The redwood case is beautiful and the interior is well designed, allowing you to carry the case around without the pieces being displaced. The size of the Maj Jongg pieces is not too small and not too big, although slightly bigger would have been nice. The supplier (Yellow Mountain Imports) shipped the set promptly and well packaged. I am the envy of my Maj Jongg player circle as no one could believe the quality of the set for the price that I paid!

My mahjongg group tells me this is the best set they have seen. They are impressed with the wood trays and case with felt on the bottoms so they don't damage furniture. The tiles are engraved and not just stamped so the suits won't wear off. I am very pleased and the price was incredible. One of the others in my group purchased one just like it after seeing mine. It was shipped fast too. Thanks.
