| Customer Reviews: Great Toy! November 3, 2009 A. Carlberg (Alexandria, MN United States) We bought this toy for our daughter because my cousin's son had one and he loved it. Plus we thought some of the sounds were funny. There all sorts of different sounds, songs, and phrases in 3 different languages.
My daughter used to get ahold of our tv remotes and broke 3 of them before we got this for her. She loved pretending to change the channel on the tv. She's 2 1/2 now and found it in a drawer a few weeks ago - she still enjoys playing with it.
I would highly recommend this toy!
Nice Toy, But Don't Buy It Here December 6, 2008 Holly V. Reese (Virginia) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow, $42? Are they kidding? My husband got this for our daughter for her first birthday a year and a half ago at Wal-Mart, and my now one-year-old son likes it, too. I think my husband paid about 10 bucks. It's a nice little toy. The toy itself is a 5-star to me, though maybe I should have rated it 4 stars here because of the price. I also noticed that it says the shipping weight is over 10 pounds for an 8-ounce item. Maybe there's something wrong with the listing?
Pros: It speaks English, French and Spanish, saying the numbers and a few words, like "Hello," and "Have a nice day," in all three languages. When you turn the wheel at the bottom, it rotates between a few songs, like "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." The songs are just music, no lyrics. The wheel also brings up the phrase, "Have a nice day," and a soccer guy yelling "GOAL!" It has a blinking light on the top end, which my daughter liked. It's small enough and lightweight enough to carry in a baby bag as a take-along. I also liked it that it's not indoctrinating one year olds into character marketing. You really can't avoid them getting a lot of that, but I do what I can to favor the toys that aren't as much a marketing tool. We've had this toy for a year and a half with steady use, and I don't ever remember changing the batteries.
Potential cons: It does not have an on/off switch, which isn't a huge deal to me, but it's something worth mentioning. Also, the a sound effect where that soccer guy yells "GOAL!" can get a little annoying if my kids play it over and over and over.
I'm ok with the rest of the sounds it makes, and I like this toy a lot in general.
1st Time Mom (Ooh Wee) July 17, 2008 T. Fulton (Chicago, IL) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased my son over 50 toys for his first Christmas. Chalk it up to being a 1st time mom. Anyhow, I purchased the Little Tikes Discover Sounds Universal Remote from Walmart, not at the price shown above. I like the toy but found that my son liked to play with the adult remote. I would recommend this but would not pay $29 for it.
