I don't like these October 19, 2009 I love crayola markers, crayons, chalk and paint, but I'm not crazy about these. Besides the fact that they are a big waste of plastic, they also don't draw very well. Colored pencils are really not the easiest to use in general- although they definitely have their place. I thought these were a waste of money. First, you have to press really hard to get these to write in the first place- and then the pencil stick inside is so thick (to prevent breakage) that they're also not very precise. Just stick with regular colored pencils.
Enjoying them July 14, 2009 Tommy (New Jersey) I've been buying twistables crayon for my son. I don't end up with broken stub of crayons which my son refuse to use. When my son's teacher asked for color pencils, I got this instead. This eliminates need to sharpen so often. If you let out too much of the colored lead, it will break very easily. However, just a little amount do the job and even my 5 y/o could handle that so I assume everyone could. Only thing that I regret is that this is not refillable which is waste of the plastic casing.
Great for school AND home June 20, 2009 Bec's Mum (Pgh, PA) I really like these pencils. They may not last quite as long as regular colored pencils and might be a wee bit nore money, but there's no pencil shaving mess and they always have a point so coloring/creating isn't interrupted. I'd like to find a bigger set for home but haven't found one yet.
Not tough enough April 9, 2009 plyopowerd (MD) The tips break much too easily. Stick with regular wooden pencils, which are more durable, cheaper and biodegradable. Even young children can easily learn how to use a wall-mounted sharpener.
Not your traditional colored-pencil finish December 28, 2008 J. Welsch 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The colors are vibrant and there is an assortment of fabulous colors. However, the waxy material is more crayon-like than a pencil. Unlike regular crayons, I had to use more force than I wished to exert in order to achieve the consistent vibrant color that I sought. I found it impossible to achieve any shading from dark to light. I don't completely regret my purchase, as it is another medium for kids to experiment and be creative, but I can't highly recommend this as a TOY because you have to press hard to get good results, and I can't recommend this as an ART material because you can't achieve the results that can be achieved with real pencils.
