My son's favorite puzzle August 15, 2009 Eli Rivera (Tucson, AZ) We have three Melissa and Doug Puzzles. My son was only a few months more than three when we purchased this one. Smaller puzzles with less pieces were no longer challenging. Of course, this didn't challenge him for very long but he loves pirates and thus loves doing this one over and over.
This puzzle is very durable and I expect to hand it down to my next son.
Great Challenge for Toddler August 9, 2009 K. Napolitano (Hermosa Beach, CA) Although he's below the age range, my 25 month old enjoys doing this puzzle regularly. It was definitely a challenge to have to put it together without a picture to help, but that seems like the really educational part of this puzzle. There are just enough hints on the pieces for him to put it together on his own and he LOVES the pirate theme. He has had the puzzle about 3 months, put it together probably about 75-100 times and it's holding up beautifully.
Best puzzles available July 6, 2009 S. Mckone (MI USA) All of the Melissa and Doug puzzles are the highest quality puzzles I've ever seen. My son, now 4, has LOVED puzzles since he was just a year old and these have always been our choice. They stand up to his rough and tumble way of playing and I have even accidentally stepped on them many times when he forgets to put them away and they've never broke or even cracked. LOVE these puzzles and will continue to buy them. Although I think the 48 piece puzzles may be better for younger children. My son still enjoys them but after two times he is now able to put it together REALLY fast. I think it's time to move up to something bigger...
Love Melissa & Doug June 14, 2009 D. Glade (Queen Creek, AZ) We love Melissa and Doug puzzles. They are sturdy and last longer than other puzzles. I wish there was a picture for my son to go off of but he seems to be doing OK without it. Love the cute pirate theme!
beautifully engaging puzzle June 9, 2009 Sylvia Seobarrat I recently started purchasing puzzles for my 3 year old and found it difficult to find out that was both visually captivating and durable. My 3 year old daughter was drawn to puzzles that had the everyday cartoon characters and found great entertainment in putting them together. As soon as she saw this puzzle she was drawn in by the beautiful picture it displayed. The colors were vibrant and appealing to the eye. The only issue I had with it was that due to the fact that is was brand new it was difficult to take the puzzle pieces apart as they are wooden. Once you have unassembled it and used it frequently the pieces get easier to put together. The fact that it has a wooden frame to help hold the puzzle in place was a big plus for my daughter. I purchased quite a few of the Doug and Melissa puzzles and she was captured by the unconventional illustrations which she was not used to.
