Well designed and good quality wooden board with drawers to contain tiles. Helpful that grids are edged in black. Needs more small tiles, had to order more separately.

The trick is to go to logical analysis when 9 think-pieces aren't enough. If you're using more think-pieces than that, you're not thinking enough! One additional help is to train yourself to see patterns by using strips of paper or plastic to visually show yourself the rows and columns that are "covered" for the number you're working on. This wooden set allows you to do that easily. The large size numbers are easy on the eyes. The wood is lovely to gaze at and the pieces feel good in the hand. There's also a color Sudoku wooden board game that uses colors and no numbers. It's a nice option for keeping the brain agile, and it's very pretty to use, though it doesn't come with the wonderful little storage drawers that this set has. Maybe Amazon carries it by now, but I had to order it directly from the manufacturer a couple of years ago. We love them both.

The product is as described, but I was disappointed and frustrated by the lack of wooden thinking pieces. I purchased this product for my wife who found the lack of thinking pieces frustrating. The hidden drawer for the pieces certainly has more than enough room to house more. I noticed before my purchase that another customer responded about the lack of thinking pieces. I discounted this criticism. I wish I hadn't. What to do? Back to paper and pencil.
Not enough thinking numbers August 8, 2009

I like the wooden sudoku board, but there are only 9 of each thinking numbers. There should be 2 or 3 times that numbers. Where can more thinking numbers be purchased? This board is not that useful without enough thinking numbers. Usually there are one or two numbers on a specific puzzle which you need a lot thinking numbers of.

Wood Expressions Wooden Sudoku
I am very disappointed in the quality and design of the product. The tile storage drawers fall open when the game is moved, and because of the design of the storage space, the tiles can jam inside the drawer, making it difficult to get all of the tiles out.
I had seen the plastic set by Briarpatch Sudoku Game at a friend's, and wanted one for myself. I ordered the Wood Expressions set (almost twice the cost) because the Briarpatch set was not available in local stores or through Amazon.
In my opinion the Briarpatch set is a much better product, and certainly a better value.
