Very poor workmanship November 12, 2009 A Reader (Seattle) I like the concept of this puzzle, but it did not arrive in a condition acceptable to give to a 1 yr. old. The pieces were cut from the background with a jigsaw, and there was no sanding or cleanup whatsoever. The hardboard was chipped and rough, with sawdust and loose particles everywhere. It took about half an hour of sanding and cleaning before I felt comfortable letting my child play with it. In theory it is nice that the puzzle is "crafted by hand", but Melissa & Doug needs better quality control!
Great Product September 10, 2009 E. Bauers (Nebraska) My then 13 month old received this for Christmas last year. I am completely satisfied with this product and have no complaints. My daughter loves to play with it now as much as she did 10 months ago. I especially love the large pegs that make it easy to handle. Unlike other posters, we have not had the problems with chipping paint or pieces not fitting correctly. Our pieces fit even when upside down and the circle fits in no matter what the orientation. I would recommend this product to anyone.
Great First Puzzle! August 11, 2009 J. Baker (Louisville, KY) First puzzle my 10 month old has been able to work. She was occupied by it for about ten or fifteen minutes today. Super cute puzzle! The knobs are great.
Educational yet fun! June 10, 2009 Ashley Dillow (Washington, DC) Our one year old daughter loves this toy! Thanks to this puzzle, she now knows circle, square, and triangle (we're still working on rectangle and oval!). I noticed a few other reviews complaining that the pieces only fit in if turned a certain way (i.e. the circle), but we have not had this problem. Our daughter often puts the pieces in upside-down, but they always fit! I recommend this puzzle for the big chunky handles and the large simple shapes - perfect for little hands!
Great puzzle May 30, 2009 Jen E (Tucson, AZ) I love this puzzle. The pieces are really big and the knobs on it are easy to hold on too even for the smallest of fingers.
