Product Description
Based on the best-selling book by Chris Van Allsburg, this game follows the story of two young brothers and the mysterious game they find. Once they play it, they're hurled along with their house into outer space and the adventures begin.

To play, turn the key and a game card pops out. A Robot moves along the board to thwart your progress, and bit by bit, the house puzzle comes apart. Be the first player to reach the planet Zathura and you win.

3 out of 5 stars The kids really like it   October 15, 2009
Tracy Paccone (Austin, Texas)
I bought this game for my son's fifth birthday because he LOVES the movie. He was constantly talking about how great it would be to have a Zathura game of his own. When he opened it, he was over the moon excited. He plays with it at least once a day and sometimes makes up his own game rules or re-enacts scenes from the movie. It's not the sturdiest of games and I know many other reviewers were disappointed that the game wasn't more like the one in the movie. But the way I see it is this: if this game was exactly like the one in the movie it would be a $[...] game. I think the fact that they figured out how to get the cards to pop out was clever enough and it definitely has made a 5 year old in Austin very happy. All in all, I say if your kid loves Zathura this is a worthwhile purchase.

I was glad to see it arrived with the plastic still on it. My daughter requested so she is going to be the real judge on how fun it is!

I have read many negative reviews of this game. I was reluctant to let my son spend the money he had saved to buy it for fear of being completely disappointed. I'm glad I allowed him to. While it may not be a strategy game or incredibly challenging. My kids aged 7 & 6 really seem to like it. It was bought for them so to me that's what matters most. The card dispenser works perfectly fine. :)

3 out of 5 stars Zuthura...not the movie game...   July 14, 2009

Personally I think the game is ok. It looks a lot like the game from the movie. However, my daughter, who the game is really for, was not so pleased. She was really expecting the metal wind up game from the movie. I knew, given the great price, that would not be the case. It would be really cool if they DID make a game much more like the movie version. Wind up and cars that move on a track and all.

Easy to set up, but rules can be confusing. My 9 year old grandson and I love to play this together.
