checkers/chess game June 10, 2009 Deborah J. Shumney (cleveland, oh) The game was for my grandchildren. But I thought the game board was to thin not made like it use to be and the cardboard that it came it was so
flimsy that it just fell apart and ripped so easly.
Good beginner set November 10, 2008 Irish Girl (Florida) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We really searched for the kind of chess set we had when we were kids. This was the closest we found. The picture on the front of the box has black checkers on it, but there are no black checkers in the box; only red and white. The chess pieces are nice, and like the kind I had growing up in the seventies. The board and box are a little flimsy, but okay. My 7 year old son plays with one of us (mom or dad) almost daily and it is still in great condition after several months.
Cheap Chess Sets: Ideal for Beginners' Club October 17, 2008 Donald W. Gillman (L.A.) I was looking for the lowest priced chess sets around. Searched all the local wholesale outlets but ended up going online for the best deal.
Games for the twilight years September 3, 2008 Richard Musgrave 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As I near my 85th birthday I seek an appropriate pass-time. I have always enjoyed seeing old men sitting in the park and playing various board games or the like.
Since I didn't know too much about chess and checkers and that sort of games I decided to learn them so I ordered a beginners' board and "How To" book from Amazon.
I will get around to actually learning how to fully enjoy them soon. So, I look forward to "manana"!
