Product Description LeapFrog - Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set Toddlers from 12 months and up will love making wacky animal combinations with this Magnetic Animal set. This toy teaches kids all about animals, as it plays learning songs, fun facts, and sounds. Toddlers can make up to 25 combinations with this magnetic puzzle, and it can be played with on the floor or on the refrigerator. When two matching pieces are inserted into the farm, a cheerful electronic voice says the animal name. If the pieces mismatch, the toy creates a silly name for that animal. Matches are positively reinforced and the toy makes mismatches seem funny rather than wrong. When set to music mode, Farmer Tad plays five banjo tunes for a real barnyard hoe-down. The Fridge Farm is a great set to travel with. All pieces store on the back of the barn and a carry handle allows easy transport from place to place. The toy's resilient construction withstands wear and tear and holds up nicely to rough child play. Strong magnets keep it from falling off the fridge and lightweight construction allows a small child to carry the fun from room to room with no problem. A handy volume switch keeps the music at an enjoyable level. The fridge farm encourages creativity, as your child mixes, matches, and makes zany animals. Bright colors and lively animal songs make the Fridge Farm a family favorite. In 2004, it received the prestigious Superior quality, easy-to-grasp pieces, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award. and lively banjo tunes make it a great addition for any toddler's toy box. A DEFINITE MUST HAVE! November 13, 2009 L. D. Morgan I purchased this for my grandson for Christmas when he had just turned 2 and I have to say it definitely keeps his interest. When he is visiting and I am busy in the kitchen I am able to hear the sounds of the toy along with his reactions knowing he is entertained. Not only has it taught him the animals, the sounds they make but also learning where and how the pieces go. He thinks it is also very funny when he creates his own silly animal. I also find that when my older boys (high school and jr. high) have friends over they all seem to turn it on and start playing thinking this is pretty interesting. The pieces have been dropped and abused many times and it is still holding up really well. I would definitely recommend adding this to any gift list.
Lower quality than previous versions November 10, 2009 R. Morehouse (Sierra Vista, AZ) My daughter (15 mo) has loved playing with this toy at 2 of her friends' houses, so we finally bought one for her for a road trip. I was so disappointed to find that the current version available feels & looks much cheaper than the older versions we saw at her friends'. The plastic is flimsy, and the toy has no weight to it. Also, the earlier models with the frog (rather than duck) sang a song when you pushed on the frog button, and this one doesn't. All in all I am disappointed that I bought this new rather than looking for a used, but higher-quality, version.
Love it!! October 28, 2009 Amy S. Mcfarland (California) Absolutely a must-have for kiddos. My son loves the animal sounds and songs it plays, and even makes a game out of mismatching the animals to hear it say "that's silly!" If you match the animals correctly, it tells you fun facts about each animal and plays its sound.
This has been a very durable set, and unlike some kids' toys, the music is pretty fun, not annoying.
Great toy in a small package! October 26, 2009 Stacey (San Diego, Ca) My daughter was 1 when she received this toy, and was immediately drawn to it. She loves the songs and dances to the music, she quickly learned how to make it "sing"! As others have stated I also loved the positive message that it uses with a wrong match calling it silly rather than wrong. It also gives small tidbits of information about the animals when you make a correct match. Lastly, I love the small size of this toy, it's an easy one to take on a trip to Grandma's.
Great toy, I see this one growing with my daughter and being one she plays with for a couple of years!
Excellent Toy! September 30, 2009 Sara Marie Bosket (Lexington Park, MD) We are huge fans of Leap Frog toys at our house. We bought this toy for our daughter's 1st b-day. She dances to the music and likes playing with the pieces. She just turned 1 on 9/28 so she is a little young yet when it comes to matching the animals and placing them in the barn. She can get 1 piece in but that is it. She still has a great time with it. We love the magnets on it, they seem to be strong enough so it doesn't slide down the fridge. I am able to clean up the kitchen while she plays, which is a blessing in it's self. The songs are cute and we are not worried about her choking on any of the pieces since they are not too small. Also, the toy still gives positive feedback to the kids even if the animals are not matched correctly. Instead of saying, "oops try again", like some other toys. Our 8 yr. old daughter secretly enjoys playing with it as well. I think she just likes mismatching the animals to hear what it will be called. (pig cow, sheep duck, etc.)
This toy is great for 1 yr, olds but most likely they won't be able to match them until about 18 mo. or older. In my opinion, practice makes perfect and the younger kids will still enjoy it. I highly recommend this toy! Great job Leap Frog and Amazon. (Amazon does an awesome job with timely shipping)
