Product Description Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Tool Box Perfect for children 6-36 months, the Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Tool Box is a great way to introduce your little one to everyday shapes, colors, and numbers. They will love placing each shape in its designated area and bopping them through with the hammer. Lights and sounds are activated as each shape passes through. Then, when all shapes have gone through, simply flip the play area over and begin again. A terrific sensory development toy, the DiscoverSounds Tool Box promotes hand/eye coordination, spatial recognition, and will keep your baby entertained for hours.

Compact and wonderful! August 11, 2009 Katherine Jeong (Houston) I love this toy. It cleans itself up and the hammer is not too big that kids are tempted to hit each other. The lights and sound are a bonus. This is the best shape sorter toy out there. I don't end up having lose pieces and stepping on them. Five pieces is enough. It is a great toy, easy to transport in its own suitcase. Its a great give for 1 and 2 yr olds.
Fun, but has some drawbacks! January 29, 2009 S. Griffing Well, my son seems to have a lot of fun with this toy...he likes the noises that the tool box makes when the shapes go through. However, he has hurt himself many times by either pinching his fingers in it when closing, smashing his hand when flipping the sorter over, or scrathing/cutting himself on the rough edges of the box itself (although I filed the plastic down a bit and it helped). Also, it's not a great sorter teaching toy because it's too forgiving...my 15 month old son can force the hexagon and square shapes almost all the way through the circle slot (they bend just slightly because they are hollow plastic). I feel like he's not able to grasp the concept because of this so we are trying to find a better sorter.
Fun January 14, 2009 S. Steele (Utah) My grandson loves the lights and the sounds it makes. He is learning to put the blocks in the holes (just not the right ones yet) He is 9 months old.
Fun for a 13 month old February 15, 2007 Mom of 1 (Kingwood, TX) My son received this for Christmas and has been entertained with it for the past 2 months. He did have one incident the very first day he got it when he got his fingers pinched with the middle part, but that has not happened since then. We spent some time showing him how the toy is suppose to work, so he will sit and attempt to do it on his own. He does hold the hammer, but never actually uses it to put the shapes through. I honestly think he is learning shape distinction as a result of this toy. I also like the fact that the case is hard to open. It makes it much easier for travel and my son easily carries it around the house as a result.
Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Tool Box January 9, 2007 D. Moore (Southeast, US) The toy itself is wonderful for toddlers. My grandson wouldn't open anything else on Christmas morning after he saw this one. I like the fact that it has a toolbox theme as my 14-month-old grandson loves to "help" his dad fix things. It is just the right size and weight for a little one to carry around. The shape sorter is built into the "toolbox", so the shapes stay inside the box and are not as likely to get lost.
The only thing that doesn't seem to fit is the "DiscoverSounds" part of the title. It lights up and makes sounds when the shapes go through, but, other than that, there is nothing to "Discover" about the sounds.
