Not safe, very disappointed November 9, 2009 ScottishMama (Richmond, VA) Educational, great hand-eye coordination toy. However, the BIG problem with this toy is that it is a major choking hazard and not safe. My 18-month old was given this as a gift, and I have put it up on the shelf because the pegs come out. After knocking them out of the board, she puts them in her mouth and walks around, which is scary because these are narrow enough that they could go down her throat if she fell (much more narrow than the recommended dimension of being wider than a toilet-paper tube). The hammer is also a hazard, it is not rounded on the end and it hurt when she fell while walking with it.
This toy could be so great if M&D would make it so the pegs can't come out and so the hammer end is wider and more rounded.
Good educational toy but sides came unglued October 28, 2009 Amanda M. (Florida, USA) This is a great toy and my son has been playing with it for some time but... a week after he got it, the red sides came unglued. We glued it back together with stronger glue, no big deal. If you buy this be sure to have some wood glue handy just in case.
my son loves this October 12, 2009 Priscilla A. Hewlett (sunny arizona) ikea has a similar toy but the quality is terrible and the pegs get stuck. so i bought this and my 2 yr old loves it. i should have bought it a year ago. this is a great toy and the price is really good.
Fanastic September 5, 2009 Sandra Kay Burness When my daughter was a toddler I got we got her one that was over 35 years ago. I so happy to find one for my grand daughter who loves it.
Impossible! July 23, 2009 Kimiko We bought this toy for my 2 year old and it's completely unusable. I'm thinking of calling the manufacturer. The holes are too small for the majority of the pegs. Unless you bang the pegs REALLY hard with the hammer, they do not budge. I can't even get some of them through the holes and my husband gets them, but he has to hit it very hard with the mallet. My daughter gets frustrated with it since she bangs it with the hammer and it doesn't budge.
