There's no way around it: this set of large dominoes is an unequivocally educational toy. That said, it also happens to be an extremely pleasurable activity, especially when adults sit down and thoughtfully play with children. The dominoes look like thick cardboard cards (about the size of an adult palm) with two pictures on one side and the traditional domino dots and numbers on the other side. The idea is for preschoolers to play a matching game with the pictures, which is great for learning picture recognition and the notion of "same and different." The sweet illustrations feature children of all ethnic backgrounds as well as numerous cheerful animals. On the other side, children practice number recognition and counting--crucial for early math skills. There are no gadgets and gimmicks here--just relaxing, wholesome fun.
