not the quality I expected from Ravensburger May 19, 2009 vsg714 (NY, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We got this floor puzzle yesterday and I am disappointed by the quality of the pieces. They are mat and not glossy and I am afraid after a few days they wear. I paid $15 plus tax but I believe it is worth less than $10 so buy only if you get it on discount. The cute box also started to show signs of wear....
Grandmother January 2, 2008 Joan Drake (Chandler, AZ USA) Purchased this for grandson who is 2 1/2. He loves to do puzzles and this puzzle is a great size for his hands. It gives enough of image on piece to help him figure out where it goes. Overall size not to big that it doesn't fit on my coffee table. Would recommend this product to anyone. Also fast delivery on order.
Fun with Thomas June 16, 2007 A. Hartung (Spearfish, SD, USA) Once again, I bought this for a gift, but my Sister-in-law has only good to say about it. She says that it is very durable, and easy to clean if spots appear (kids will do that ya know!) The kids really like being able to get something out to play with on the floor.
Good Puzzle for Non-Destructive Kids :) January 10, 2007 K. uchimura When I purchased this puzzle I was under the impression it was thick, chunky pieces-- ideal for my not-so-gentle 3 year old. The pieces are large but only slightly thicker than a regular puzzle. All the same, he absolutely loves it. I just hope it outlasts him. The colors are bright and vivid and there is a protective coating of some sort over the print, that helps. He still needs a little help getting the pieces in the right spots but I'm sure that varies by child so maybe the 3years+ rating on the box is appropriate. If you have a young Thomas fan in the house this will get used.
Possibly difficult to use based on giant piece size April 6, 2006 Kerry (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This puzzle has been through two kids in my house and it's still in great shape. The cardboard is thick and durable. The picture is friendly and interesting. It's been a favorite with my kids.
However, if you are buying this puzzle for a two-year old or younger, this puzzle can be very cumbersome to solve simply because the pieces are gigantic. As a small child solves the puzzle, he must basically crawl over it to reach the other parts and that causes the pieces to come apart. The floor puzzles like this one have caused some aggravation with my kids simply because they can't avoid getting on the puzzle to reach sections and that undoes their work. We have found smaller sized pieces to be easier to solve, as long as the fine motor skills allow. Just something to keep in mind...
