Editorial Review You can't beat a classic like Boggle for sheer return of fun on one's investment in a simple game. A small container holds 16 cubes, each cube marked with a different letter on each of its six sides. Give the container a good shake, and the cubes land within little pockets. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to find as many words (of three-or-more letters) as you can--in three minutes. Points are tallied by word length. --Tom Keogh

Boggle on the beach ..it rocks! June 29, 2007 My boyfriend and I, both in our 30's, played this on the beach for hours..we even had a stranger, who was sitting nearby with his friends and coveting our game, come and ask to play. It's so easy to whip out and start playing and it gets your mind working. Boggle rules. However, this particular set is way over-priced considering I also paid shipping. It's cheap and plastic and the letters don't fall neatly into the grooves. It's worth about 5 bucks but I paid over 20. Still, until the plastic cracks, I'm getting a lot of use out of it and making everyone at the beach jealous.
Classic game November 12, 2006 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
This game is a great classic game. But what happened to Big Boggle? It provided more letters and longer words. To the reviewer wanting lights and applause for her daughter... puh-lease... :p
Educational word challenge game February 25, 2006 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
Great for competitive types looking to keep their brain exercised, keeping a dictionary handy is suggested, to avoid disputes
I love this Game! January 10, 2006 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
This game is my all time favorite! My husband and I play this game with our children ages 16, 12 and 8. Sometimes we play as teams. It is truly fun and eductional.
One of my all-time favorite games! December 4, 2005 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
My grandmother bought Boggle for the family over twenty years ago, when I was in elementary school. We loved it, both kids and adults (I still own a copy), and played it often. My grandmother and her friends continued to play it even after we grew up: her original set was with her "game night" stuff when we sorted through her estate! (And it was still in good shape, too, though obviously much-played.)
Of course, Boggle is highly educational (especially spelling and vocabulary); it's a lot like a word find puzzle. But in Boggle, the letters don't have to be in a straight line. This encourages players to look at things in different ways, which of course helps with problem-solving skills.
More than being educational, Boggle really is fun. It's suitable for families or for all-adult groups. "Grown-ups," of course, will have an easier time finding words; the scoring takes this into account, though, so kids have a fair chance. The timed rounds keep the pace up, and at three minutes per round, it's easy to play a quick game or turn it into a marathon session.
One cool feature of Boggle is that only unique words count towards your score, so it's a race to find long, unusual words or words in unusual configurations. (Adults can get QUITE competitive!) The only drawback: shaking the cubes into place is VERY noisy, so don't play it while the youngest family members are asleep.
