fun math book March 31, 2009 IN mom (Francesville, IN) We are enjoying reading this, as well as the other books in this series. They are a fun way to illustrate geometry. Although we are not to geometry yet, our boys will be able to come back to these books later - although the stories are fun for them now as elementary kids.
A math adventure February 2, 2009 Jon Cverna (Warren, OH) This book is written on a level for young readers, providing an adventure story while at the same time teaching the young reader some math fundamentals of circles. This is but one of a series of such books and after reviewing this first one, I will be ordering more books in this series. Such books provide a fun way for young readers to learn.
The Angles of Castle Dimensions March 4, 2008 Chatelaine (Connecticut, USA) In this entertaining math adventure, Sir Cumference's son, Radius, enters upon a quest. Quests were the thing to do for aspiring knights in the ancient land of Angleland (apparently now known as England on current maps). So Radius goes to rescue King Lell, and takes with him a medallion, very much like a protractor. He uses it to determine angles which help him to follow the clues to find the missing king. When he is successful, angles are named after similar places in his adventure, such as the Mountains of Obtuse. Plenty of math terms find themselves in the story, which make it all the more entertaining. Such a great way to introduce geometry to younger children!
Even in Middle School they still like to be read to October 16, 2007 M. A. Jameson (Hudson, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This whole series of books is wonderful. The story line for a middle school level is somewhat elementary, but the students still LOVE them. They remember the terms and even bring them up during lessons. I think even at the middle school levels, the kids really like being read to and these books ,as silly as they seem when read at that level, help solidify these key geometry concepts in a fun kind of way. They take about 10-15 minutes to read out loud. Highly recommend!
Even my 8th graders loved it!!! June 1, 2007 S. Buchman (NY) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am a special ed. teacher, and my co-teacher and I read the Sir Cumference books aloud to our 8th grade collaborative class. They loved all of them!! "Now I get it" was heard more than once!!! I highly recommend the series!!
