Product Description
A New York real estate tycoon plunges to his death on a Manhattan sidewalk. A trophy wife with a past survives a narrow escape from a brazen attack. Mobsters and moguls with no shortage of reasons to kill trot out their alibis. And then, in the suffocating grip of a record heat wave, comes another shocking murder and a sharp turn in a tense journey into the dirty little secrets of the wealthy. Secrets that prove to be fatal. Secrets that lay hidden in the dark until one NYPD detective shines a light. Mystery sensation Richard Castle, blockbuster author of the wildly best-selling Derrick Storm novels, introduces his newest character, NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat. Tough, sexy, professional, Nikki Heat carries a passion for justice as she leads one of New York City's top homicide squads. She's hit with an unexpected challenge when the commissioner assigns superstar magazine journalist Jameson Rook to ride along with her to research an article on New York's Finest. PulitzerPrize-winning Rook is as much a handful as he is handsome. His wise-cracking and meddling aren't her only problems. As she works to unravel the secrets of the murdered real estate tycoon, she must also confront the spark between them. The one called heat.

Love the show - love the Book March 17, 2010 Laura M. Ryan (IL)
If you love the show like I do you will love the book. You can't help but picture the characters from the show with the characters in the book and the book made me laugh as much as the show does. I LOVE THE SHOW Castle and have the first season on DVD & have been passing it along to my friends to get them hooked & it is working. It was just fun to read a book that they kept talking about on the show - my only negative to the book is I wish it was longer!
enjoyable March 14, 2010 C. Higgins (Australia) I found this book very enjoyable to read and the service and shipping was quick and efficient!
I would highly recommend this book to all!
Skip the book, watch the show! March 13, 2010 Smeddley I wanted to like this book. I really did. I absolutely adore the television show. Unfortunately, the book was... a sad, two-dimensional affair that I actually set down for several months right in the middle. And I'm the kind of person who usually reads a book in one sitting, so... yeah.
It wasn't all bad, there were times when you could see a glimmer of the characters, some really good one-liners and a bit of zing, but overall it felt like someone trying way too hard (Including the names... Rook, really?). It might have worked as an episode of the show, because there was a decent enough mystery (though that's not what makes the show great, I think the way the characters work together is what makes that show click) ...but then there was also an eye-roll inducing gratuitous sex scene.
Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone, unlike the show, which I recommend to anyone and everyone who will listen to me!
The best! March 10, 2010 Samantha Erwin (Chicago, Illinois USA) I am the world's biggest Castle fan. I love the show (on Monday 10/9 central). I was so excited to read the book and I wasn't disappointed. It was great because it was just like the show and I coud picture it wonderfully. I loved this book and hope that Rich Castle continues to write books!
Good story; like watching the show March 10, 2010 Christine Jones (Chattanooga, TN) The story was very good. It was like watching the show on TV. However, the book is much shorter than one is led to believe. I guess it would have helped if I had read the page numbers. If you love the show, which I do, you will enjoy the book. Keeps you guessing until the end.
