Disappointment and Major Bugs December 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned previous versions of the Hoyle games and was excited to use the 2009 version with my new Vista laptop. Unfortunately, it crashes at times and causes problems with my system. Also, there are major bugs. I love to play Parchisi. It takes several tries for the game to allow me to place my piece where I want it to be. Sometimes, it automatically places the piece where it chooses and you can't undo the move. I've uninstalled it from my computer and I'm considering purchasing the 2008 version. Do not purchase this version. I will trust the other reviewer who recommends purchasing the 2008 version.
Average Game December 21, 2008 There are really no new games in this release, but the games work fine. The design has no thought to it, the main menu is just a list in alphabetical order, that really disappointed me because the previous versions of Hoyle have at least done something interesting with the main menu pages. Overall, not worth the money if you have a previous version.
Encore Sucks. December 21, 2008 Encore Games are The worst new games on the market. I have three, Hoyle Cards Games,Hoyle Casino, and Hoyle Board & Puzzle Games. All have very bad flaws and if you try to contact Encore about them you will not get any answers. Save your money and purchase something else.
It's ok - very much like the 2005 version December 12, 2008 Well the product I received was clearly opened already. I assume returned. The packaging was bent up. But I figured for the price, it is just a disc.. try it anyway. The disc didn't look scratched up. It seems to work fine. It is VERY close to the same as the 2005 edition with a few more games. But for the games you play on previous editions it will look and sound exactly the same. Overall I am fine with it. I have NOT had any crashings or freezing up.
Puzzle & Board Games 2009 October 15, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This program is just "OK". I actually don't like it as well as my 2005 version, but was told that 2005 wouldn't work with Vista and sooner or later I'm going to have to upgrade to Vista. I don't think they have much improved the program at all. They have added a game or two and the "Big Bang" games are fun but not to many of them in the game, at least that I like to play. Not sure I'd have bought it had I know what ie was like. Most of the interface on this one is pretty much like the 2005 version I already had.
