Great software but.... November 16, 2009 C. Kern This products really does some great things, however, it has some bugs. I am still taking with tech support on why after I delete a portion of my movie all the video/audio does not match
Didn't even correctly recognize the first file I imported November 15, 2009 G. Smith (Orange County, CA USA) My first impression is not good. I downloaded the free trial from the Cyberlink website. The software thought my 23 Mbps 1280x720P H.264 MOV file was a 3.0 Mbps MPEG2 file. It didn't even recognize the audio track (said it was type 'unknown'). That's enough for me. Time to uninstall...
If only Windows Live Moviemaker handled multiple audio tracks! That software is so fast...and with the Profile Editor, you can make custom output settings (bitrate/type/etc.). Oh and its free. The only catch is you need Windows 7 or Windows Vista (I don't recommend the latter!).
PowerDirector 8 rocks! November 11, 2009 CHANG LIK (Taipei, Taiwan R.O.C Taiwan) My father recently retired. Like most people of his age and position this means a lot of free time. He was driving my mother crazy. So for his birthday I bought him a camcorder and PowerDirector Deluxe and told him to take it easy. He started to record right away and promised that he will show me the video next time we met. To be honest, I wasn't expecting a lot. Only some clips put together, but was really suprised when I saw the end result. I never expected my father to be able to do this, he got me hooked too.
I can really recommend this to anyone, it is great as a gift. Don't be put out by the fact that it looks complicated. If my father over 60 can work with it anyone can!!!
Frequent crashes, lots of bugs, but if it worked it would be GREAT October 24, 2009 Mr. Patrick A. Willis (Eugene, OR USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have never used a program that was this buggy. I went through all the trouble to edit videos, several times in fact, and very rarely did it allow me to actually render the finished product! I received NO RESPONSE to my email to customer service. The forums are not helpful at all. They ask you for all sorts of system info., you post it, and then nothing happens. There is no patch available at this time either.
If you get a Runtime error with this program, you may as well sell it. I tried EVERYTHING, and there was just no way to fix it. So, I have a whole lot of time invested in editing videos that I can't watch outside of PD8. If I did minimal editing, such as just stringing two videos together into one, then it worked. Add a title, project is toast.
If the makers had spent a little more time testing and refining this product, it would have been a real hit. Most of the interface is intuitive and there are many options for which format you want the finished product to be. As-is, it's pretty much useless for me since I can't actually render a movie!! Check their forums, I'm not the only one who had a problem with this program by a long shot.
Thumbs up for PowerDirector! October 22, 2009 Anastacia Gonzales (USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The main reason I bought PowerDirector was to help my son with some school projects. Although it was for him, we ended up fighting over the computer. Nothing serious, all ends well. He got an A+, and I ended up with some great family videos.
What I love most about PowerDirector is DirectorZone (free online community for PowerDirector). They have tons of stuff on there for free and you can upload your own material. Thumbs up for allowing users to show their time line. I picked up a lot of tricks by watching how other people edit their work. I recommend everyone to take a look and see for themselves.
