Only for older operating systems, very slow (several hours) and no customer support November 17, 2009 David Frank (Sacramento) I have tried Easy VHS to DVD on several Macs, running 10.4 and 10.5 using home recorded and commercial VHS tapes. Easy VHS to DVD often quits unexpectedly at the worst time. After recording a 90 minute video it takes almost an hour to render the movie on even the fastest Macs. Then, if you chose to export the movie to iMovie, it's another hour. Somewhere in the process it is likely to quit. You have to start all over. And, even if you select 90 minutes as a recording time, the program keeps recording, so you can't leave it on unattended. It will never stop recording automatically.
Even though the movie you recorded shows up in iMovie 09, iMovie cannot open the movie, so you can't edit it. iDVD doesn't recognize the movie.
If you use Toast to make a DVD, even a premium version, the video quality is terrible. The video looks OK in Quick Time, but you can barely see the image if you go directly from Easy VHS to Toast to burn a disk.
Any questions you ask support are answered with a form letter and a copy of the manual. I find this especially insulting.
Even if you can get this to work, it will take a lot of time to convert even a few movies.
When you read the discussion boards, everyone else seems to be having the same issues.
There must be something out there that works.
Super Easy September 30, 2009 S. Elsesser 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is so easy to use and I think that all the updates you download once you install it fix most of the issues people are talking about. I almost didn't buy this product because of the reviews it was getting but i'm glad that I did. Works great and is cheaper then the program they sell at the Apple Store.
Basically satisfied September 28, 2009 Jeffrey A. Burger (Ridgewood, NJ USA) As originally purchased, the product had some bugs, but Roxio issued fixes within a week or two and it now works basically as advertised. Very easy to use.
It really is easy! September 23, 2009 Stephen F. Benintendi (Springfield MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
From setup to operation, this product worked like it needed to. They provided every cable you could possibly need including a pigtail for the USB which is really handy when you are using a laptop like I do. Very happy with this easy to use transfer program.
