Inferior copy January 23, 2010 Nate (Talkeetna, AK USA) I bought Puzzle Hero when it was a buck during a promotion on Amazon. That's a decent price for it, but I'd still much rather play Puzzle Quest, a far superior game of the same ilk which you can download for about the same price as this game right now. Both games have Bejeweled style game play with RPG elements mixed in, though Quest has a story to follow with lots of dialogue, more magic/skills, better graphics, and better sound. I will admit this game does seem to be made for younger kids, so if you're a parent looking for a tamer cutesy option, this would be fine. Even if it gets marked down again, I would still recommend Puzzle Quest over this low budget imitator.
Fun for all January 10, 2010 FlamingoNut (NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While the other posts basically say it all, I thought that I'd add that myself & dh (both 46) and our 9yo are addicted to this game. Generally I'm not a gamer, but do enjoy a good game of Bejeweled every now and then, and dh basically only plays Tumblebugs. He stumbled upon this one and dragged 9yo dd into it, 2 months after I had downloaded it. They're both hooked. Besides the obvious lining up of the same items, you must destroy the villians, which are pretty interesting to say the least. It's not just a mindless game; it involves strategic planning; you need to think about what you need to continue play and to advance to the next round. I don't want to get repetitive with the other posts, but this one is definitely a keeper.
Turn-Based RPG Meets BeJeweled November 6, 2009 Shilom (MI) This is such a great, fun game! It took so many of my favorite elements from games and combined them. It is a turn based game in which you fight one monster per level, with a boss at the end of each journey, on your way to save the here's little brother. Instead of just matching colored jewels, you match swords to fight the monster, mana to use magic, potions to heal, money to buy gear inbeween levels, and experience to level up. It combines luck with tactic and really gives you one heck of a great game. I expected to be disappointed with another Amazon ".99" game but I would have paid full price for this one, its worth it!
Awesome Game! November 5, 2009 Misty Lovell 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this game for free on a daily game giveaway site. It is a wonderful game! I'm not into the bejeweled type games much, but this is totally different. I would absolutely pay $.99 for the download. You won't be disappointed in this game. I wish they'd come out with Puzzle Hero 2.
My absolute f a v o r i t e indie title ever! April 26, 2009 Melissa K. Lester 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is one fun game! It combines match-3 style puzzle game play with
classic Role-Playing Game elements (e.g.: turn-based combat, gold, experience points, armor, etc...) seamlessly. The music fits the medieval
fantasy setting quite nicely, I never found it grating or repetitive; the art is top notch, and I was particularly delighted with the monsters' designs.
I personally cannot recommend this title enough. Thank you, Genimo!
