Save your money and time by avoiding this product. November 18, 2009 Jerry Saperstein (Evanston, IL USA) This program is a waste of money to buy and time to install.
First of all, the promotional material doesn't tell you that the Install CD is required every time you run the program. Excuse me? I am supposed to keep the Calendar Creator Platinum CD handy so I can run the program? Goodbye. If the company is so protective of their intellectual property (which they have every right to be), let them use an online activation system like so many others. On this basis alone, I would strongly advise you to avoid this program.
Second, the install program attempts to install a print driver, fails and tell you to contact the "manufacturer". In this day and age, an error like this simply should not occur. And the "contact your manufacturer" message is ridiculous. Manufacturer of what? The program is not manufactured: it is published. The driver is from a third party. Contact them? Encore Software's support link is buried on their website. Yes, they do have an acknowledgment of this problem and a suggested solution - one that requires numerous steps and more time. For an inexpensive program? Not wasting my time for an error that shouldn't exist in the first place.
Finally, all of the designs are basically one theme with different colors and minor cosmetic changes. You can download free calendar templates that are lot more contemporary and actually artistically worthwhile. These look like the product of the person who graduated last in their art school class.
Overall, this product is a waste of money and a waste of time. Don't bother with it.
Jerry
Works fine even on Windows 7 32 and 64 bit October 30, 2009 ML 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had to upgrade from CC7 a couple of years ago when I made the mistake of going from XP to Vista. I bought CC12 Platinum at the time because that's what was out. Everything has been fine with this program. Some reviewers here don't like it, but it is what it is. It makes calendars and makes them well. Never had an application or print issue with it. I recently installed it on Windows 7 - both on a 32 bit and 64 bit Ultimate system. Both systems run CC12 fine with no issues. The main reason for this review was to update anyone out there who may be wondering about Windows 7 compatibility since as of the date I wrote this, M$ has not updated their compatibility chart for CC12.
Save your money on CC12 October 11, 2009 Jackolyn E. Hopkey (Las Vegas, NV United States) The only reason I purchased CC12 was because my old CCv2 is not compatible with my new Vista 64-bit PC. SoftKey had a great product in its old Calendar Creator 2. Once Broderbund, River Deep, then Encore took over the product, it has continued to deteriorate in my estimation. The features of v2 are not available in the newer versions (unlink occurrences, control font size with click on an icon, can't copy calendar to Word, can't enter more than one event at a time, etc.)- I've had v 4, 5, 6, 9 and the Christian Version (I publish a church newsletter). I installed them all, tried them, became frustrated and disappointed so uninstalled each one. Other than using two computers, I have no choice but to use CC12, but HATE it! The ONE positive thing I can say about the product is they have a wonderful, patient and knowledgeable Hoyle/Encore forum moderator who spent HOURS and DAYS working with me to try to get this product to accomplish what I needed.
Make easy work for your scheduling... September 18, 2009 Marc W. Martin (Gibsonton, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Calendar Creator 12 Platinum Edition is a great tool to keep your busy life and family schedule in tact. Schedule the family outings, family & friend's birthdays, that very important wedding anniversary, the kid's after school activities and so many other events you have to keep in mind. Add pictures from the built in album or add your own. Print one for your refrigerator or your day planner.
Runs on Vista, CC 2.0 event list imports sorta okay July 3, 2009 quiet_fan (Southeast USA) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've been using CC 2.0 for years on XP and decided to get a new version for my Vista machine. CC 12.0 loaded fine on Vista, and I was able to convert my old .cce file to the new format. My only problem was it automatically added a default time range to each entry which I had to manually remove. Was not able to bring over my .ccw workspace file, so I had to redo all my fonts and sizes.
I got one failure message the first time I tried to use the AutoGallery, but it cleared the next time I used it. I'm still exploring the software. The basic templates aren't impressive, but it gives me my multi-week printouts and that's what I wanted. For $9.99, I'm happy.
