5 out of 5 stars Mortimer if FUN   September 13, 2009
Sharon Keniston (Allentown PA)
I am an "elderly" person, just getting into this gaming gig as I have retired. Mortimer Beckett is SO enjoyable, and LOVE that they keep changing where the item are hid from game to game... keeps me looking and having fun, unlike others I've bought where the items are always in the same place every game and the only challenge is bettering my time. I can't wait for Mortimer's fall '09 release, already have a pre-order.

3 out of 5 stars Spooky but quick fun   July 7, 2009
Denise McDonald (Texas, United States)
I bought this game for my seven year old. He likes scary stories and treasure hunts so this was a perfect combination of both. While he did enjoy this game he completed the ENTIRE GAME in under three hours--granted I did have to help him, on occasion, to find a clue or two.

I thought maybe there would be other levels or alternate games to do; I had hopes it would last a little longer. Having said that, he turned it on again and again went searching for the clues--even knowing how it ends.

3 out of 5 stars Fun But Very Very Short   May 5, 2009

It's also on the easy side, both for the hidden images and for the puzzles. I would give it an age bracket of 8-10 years at the oldest as far as finding it a challenge. The biggest drawback, however, is that it is very very short. The shortest of any hidden object game I've tried so far.

3 out of 5 stars Well ... Whatever   April 28, 2009

This is a not quite your typical hidden picture game. The object of the game is to find pieces of items throughout a ghost-infested mansion and place or use the assembled objects in the appropriate spots thereby finding pieces of a machine that, when assembled and used, will rid the mansion of the ghosts.

Concept: 5 out of 5 - I liked the idea of finding pieces of items and then using them in various spots after they've been put together.

Gameplay: 3 out of 5 - Generally pretty easy, though some pieces can be really difficult to find. I had to use 3 or 4 hints for some items that were really hard to see even when the hint guide showed me where they were.

Length: 1 out of 5 - I finished the game in around 2 hours. It was not really any challenge. No replay value.

The game is not at all creepy, though the background music is OK. Assembly of the machine happens automatically except for the last part. There is no time limit, so you can play at your leisure. You can proceed in the game only when all objects for the current level are found and used correctly. I might recommend it for a beginner or someone looking for a really casual game. Don't pay too much for it. I got it on sale for $10 but don't feel it was worth even that much.

3 out of 5 stars Game too short...   March 23, 2009

I loved this game but it was too short. I like a game to have more for the buck. Not sorry I bought this game but disappointed in how easy it was to solve.
