Product Description Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek is another exciting and dangerous mystery starring Nancy Drew. She's at Icicle Creek Lodge to investigate a recent string of suspicious accidents. An eerie howling wolf keeps everyone up at night and terrorizes the guests. The wolf also appears at the site of accidents and then mysteriously disappears when the police arrive. As Nancy makes her way to the cozy lodge, an explosion rocks the quiet night, destroying a bunkhouse. A wolf howls mournfully in the distance. Nancy has barely set foot on the premises and already trouble is afoot! Can Nancy solve this mystery before all the guests leave and Chantal is left out in the cold?

Fun and exciting, especially for kids November 22, 2009 Loving Him (USA) We just finished this game (me and my kids) and we loved it. Yes, the cooking and cleaning got tedious because it had to be done everyday, but we got so good at it that it took no time at all. I liked it much better than Mystery in the Tower (I think I'm getting the title wrong) because it seemed like a lot of the time was spent in that game just walking all over the place - boring! We did have to use hints from the website and the guide book, but overall it was not really hard to do. I also like that it wasn't as scary and eerie as others, but it was still suspenceful, and somewhat scary. PS - some reviewers don't like the game because of the Fox and the Geese game. There is no cheat on this - you just have to play the game and win, but I did read a hint on the website that helped me - it said to put all your geese to the opposite side of where you want to trap the fox and move slowly in to trap him. Remember that it is like checkers - the fox can only get the geese if there is one geese alone for the fox to "jump" over and get. Hope this helps.
Endless cooking..... September 25, 2009 bookreader2002 (Honolulu, HI United States) This is one of my least favorite ND games largely in part due to the cooking you are required to do three times a day. You can, however, skip a meal every now and then without getting tossed out of the lodge (and game.) I've not played any cooking games or anything of that sort before, and I surely will not in the future. Thankfully, near the end of the game the handyman takes over, relieving you of that burden.
As noted by many reviewers, the Fox and Geese puzzle game is extremely frustrating. I came very close to removing the CD and putting the game away. At that point, I just didn't care. But, I'd paid good money for WWofIC so kept at it. When I completed the 3 wins there was no elation, just relief.
And, I think this was the worst ending ever. You chase the culprit on a snowmobile- the old skiing game where you avoid rocks and such. The whole climax of the game boils down to that. No using your wits to trap the culprit or escape from being trapped. Just a cramp in your finger. After my crashing a few times, my son walked in and said he'd do it for me. It took him 3 times and the chase went on for over 4 minutes....much too long to watch a little rectangle follow another rectangle around obstacles. Even he couldn't believe that was the ending.
The characters are fairly interesting, but there's really not much interaction. Most are always in the same place and do little except talk to you a few times. The ending left me wondering about them- I'd wished they had given us more information.
On the positive side, the graphics are pretty good and there's plenty of snow, my personal favorite setting for games. The wolf is lovely. For fun, search for White Wolf of Icicle Creek easter eggs on the Internet and follow the directions. For me, it was one of the few laughs in the game.
Overall, I would recommend checking out other ND games before buying this one.
FRUSTRATION !!!! August 22, 2009 Jessica (TX) THIS GAME WOULD BE FLIPPIN FANTASTIC IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE STUPID FOX AND GEESE GAME....ANNNNNNNNDDDDD THEMMMMMMM PUTTING THE NEW GAME BUTTON BY THE LOAD BUTTON....IT IS SOOOOOOO EASY AND QUICK TO JUST START THE WHOLE GAME OVER....NOT ONCE BUT TWICE FOR ME AND THE 2ND TIME I WAS VERY FAR INTO IT....GIVING UP FOR AWHILE ON THIS GAME...MAYBE I SHOULD OF BOUGHT THE $20 SHIP GAME INSTEAD.........GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Only Redeeming Feature Was The Wolf July 28, 2009 Silver Dragon (New York, NY) I've played every single ND game, and this was the worst of the worst. Here's why:
1) Chantal forced Nancy to become her new cook so that she could save money by not having to hire anyone. If Nancy didn't catch every single meal (three times a day), Chantal would call and start screaming at her. Why does Nancy put up with this? The way Chantal was talking in the beginning, it sounded like she desperately needed a detective, and the minute a detective walks in, she starts treating her like a servant.
2) I found most of the characters to be kind of rude. Lou flatly saying "no" when asked if his snowshoes could be borrowed, and Yanni snapping that he "doesn't have the desire" to teach Nancy to ski really is not very polite. While I'm aware that rudeness is considered to be realistic, it's not realistic to bark "what do you want?" at someone... or at least I hope it's not! Holt in Nancy Drew: Danger on Deception Island was obnoxious enough, but at least it was bearable.
3) Some of the puzzles were really frustrating. The Fox and the Goose, for example, you had to win three times, cornering the fox in specific corners of the board, or the win wouldn't be counted towards unlocking the maze. It wasn't interesting, it didn't make you think, you couldn't form a strategy to win because your opponent's moves were completely illogical... I got a flat out headache when I finally beat it (for the hundredth time), and cornered the fox in the right corner thus opening up the last door. I've gotten exasperated with puzzles in previous ND games, but never to the point of getting a physical reaction.
4) The ending was, well, pretty incredible. I still have yet to beat it! It's just following the villain's snowmobile going around and around and around... what is supposed to come of this? I can't seem to catch up with him.
5) There was no educational value in this game, except for a slight thing about Canadian birds. Nothing like, say, learning about Mayans or even things like a bit of Morse code that we had in previous NDs. I kind of miss that: the learning part was kind of fun, and even when it wasn't fun, I at least didn't feel like I'd wasted my time completely.
The only thing that saved this game was the wolf. It was fairly amusing giving Isis (the wolf) commands. However, she wasn't animated particularly well, and she certainly didn't make up for all the frustrations this game caused.
The graphics in this game were okay. The music was okay. The storyline resembled Nancy Drew: Treasure In The Royal Tower mixed in with several other previous ND games.
Great game, if you like to think! April 11, 2009 J. Mouw (S.E. Wisconsin) This, and all Nancy Drew games are great IF you like to be challenged. These games require you to think and remember things. Great fun for the right person.
