5 out of 5 stars Fun   September 14, 2009

You just have to try this game its fun and keeps you on your toes

5 out of 5 stars A modest game and all things considered a good pick up.   April 30, 2009

Firstly this game is not for the hardcore gamers, this game is for the casual to open minded gamer. Basically you are a server for high who helps improve struggling restaurants from being taken over by the "Big" corporation. The game is a simple point and click no gimmicks game, little learning curve game. The game is difficult enough that you might get stuck from time to time. The game has a decent amount of levels, however all and all if I weren't for the price this game wouldn't fly as it does. Simply put no reply value really the game has a definite beginning and end. The un-lockables will probably mean nothing to you and so the game is more or less a one time play through. My review may seem harsh but truly this isn't a bad game the difficulty is fine the mechanics are good; plus the game is 10 dollars and there are definitely worse games. For the price it's great, but instead I would recommend Diner Dash Hometown hero a 10 dollar or so game as well (solely for replay ability).

5 out of 5 stars My FAVORITE of all 4 Diner Dash games!   February 4, 2009
M. Mills (East Coast, USA)
I'm a huge fan of all four of the Diner Dash games and play them frequently. They're perfect for kids and adults of all ages: neutral content, no language or violence issues. You play the main character, Flo, who saves restaurants from failure with her amazing waitressing skills. You serve a variety of customer types by taking their orders, delivering their food, bringing the check, and clearing the table after they leave.

This second version of Diner Dash (DD2) continues the fun with the same core format. Kids and adults will both enjoy the new features in DD2: updated grapics, new customer types, new locations, and -- best of all -- customizable restaurant décor!

The graphics and functionality in DD2 are a huge improvement from DD1. Having played DD1 for years, I was blown away when I played DD2 for the first time. Locations, objects, and people/customers are brighter and clearer; Flo moves more smoothly; and the Podium works more quickly. There is even a different "soundtrack" for each restaurant, customized for its cuisine (Spanish guitar for the Mexican restaurant, sitar for the Asian restaurant, etc.). This certainly doesn't affect gameplay, but, in my opinion, it's a nice improvement over the single repeating soundtrack in DD1.

The best new feature of DD2 is the ability to extensively customize your restaurant décor. Every time you complete a level, you get to choose between two décor choices, and you can unlock a third choice if you achieve an "Expert" score. Each level has a different upgrade reward. For instance, when you complete the first level, you choose a new paint color; the second level, a new bar; the third level, new tables & chairs; etc. I find the décor customization feature to be the most fun perq in all the Diner Dash games; it's far more fun and rewarding than Flo's Closet (DD3 & 4) or adding more characters and playing online (DD4) -- and that's why DD2 is my favorite one in the series.

Additional new features include:
1. New restaurant patrons: cell phone addicts (a.k.a. "yappers"), whose chatter annoys surrounding tables; bookworms, who like it quiet and HATE being around loud people; and families, whose babies cry if your service isn't quick. (The rest of the characters are the same as DD1, except there are no college students or hot shots.)
2. Spills: Sometimes the families will spill a drink, and Flo has to mop it up. You can rack up "chain" bonuses by mopping several families' spills in a row.
3. Help phone: Certain levels have a "help" phone, which you can use at any one time during the shift. Use the phone to call a waiter, who will take drink orders; a band, whose music cheers seated customers; or a hostess, who will stand at the Podium for a few minutes and keep the waiting customers happy.
4. Podium time: You don't have to spend as long at the Podium to make your waiting customers happy! It only takes 4-5 seconds in DD2 as opposed to 8-10 seconds in DD1.
5. The bench: Certain levels allow you to seat waiting customers on a little red bench behind the Podium. This keeps them happier for longer, and they still benefit from you standing at the Podium. The bench is especially helpful for the yappers and the businesswomen, who lose patience easily.

Like DD1, there are four restaurants with 10 levels each, with a bonus restaurant (and another 10 levels) at the end. You also have the "Endless Shift" option of continuous gameplay as in DD1.

In summary, compared to DD1, this second version is an amazing, jaw-dropping improvement. It's a welcome addition to the Diner Dash series, and hands-down my favorite version!

5 out of 5 stars Great game!   September 4, 2008

4 out of 5 stars A pretty good game!!   August 7, 2008
AthenaRose
I bought this game because I had tried this game on a game site and liked it. Well I was originally looking for the original one but this is the one walmart had so I got it. This is a pretty challenging game. At first I thought it was pretty aggravating. I learned some tricks though that made it easier. Too bad I didn't learn these tricks til close to the end of the game. First Trick Line some up at the podium to get their Hearts(patience) up then only serve a few at a time. I did about four made sure everything was filled then went back to the podium.
I think the best deal is to buy the combination pack on here Diner dash 1&2 for about 12 something. I bought mine for 10.00 for just one.
I Didn't want to stop playing this game til I finished it which I did. I think I will get some more Flo games. It was Fun!
