Budget, yes... January 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
but I recommend going with a different manufacturer. The base speaker went bad after a few months and no longer works. Whats funny is it went bad overnight when it wasn't even in use. Never had the volume above 50%; used mostly for gaming.
Try the Logitech speakers around this price range (good reviews) or spend more and get a good set of speakers.
An excelent budget set January 12, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm very impressed with the overall quality of these speakers. They have a good range of sound, and produce an even signal that is quite nice. However, they do have a small problem, and that's linked to the fact of how small the speakers actually are.
At very low volume settings (about 1/3 or lower on the volume knob) they begin to sound slightly tinny, losing much of their base signal. This is not including the sub, which sounds good at any volume. At about halfway and higher on the knob, they begin to distort very badly and lose much of the signal quality.
However, I still rate this product with a 4, because between the settings I mentioned above I get VERY clean, clear sound. They are quite loud before even reaching the halfway mark on the knob, and still have a good amount of deffinition at lower than 1/3 settings. The sub also has its own adjustment knob, so you can have as much base as you like (a huge plus in my book).
Instalation is painless and quick, which is another big plus. And honestly, the only thing that has even remotely disappointed me about these speakers is the lack of wall mounts, even for the rear channel satalite speakers. They're also small enough to fit into any room or desk, takin up only a few inches per speaker (the sub is about the size of a shoe box, and fits nicely under my desk). I would also like to note that the sound they produce is excelent for gaming and movie watching alike.
I would recommend these speakers to anyone concidering them, especially if you can't afford a more powerful set.
