Has promise; Older technology; Non-existant email tech support June 1, 2009 J. Morgan (Atlanta, Georgia United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have not been able to fully use the product since I'm unable to get the lessons to function properly. I've taken and sent screen shots, gathered configurations and log file to Carry-a-Tune's e-mail support with no response. Even have followed up with additional emails.
I've also noticed their website hasn't been updated in years. In fact it doesn't reflect the changes in the retail industry (they still show CompUSA as my local supplier when in fact there hasn't been a local CompUSA for a long time).
Singing Coach Unlimited May 19, 2009 Techie Good overall product. Gives adequate feedback of your performance.
Shortcomings-
Cannot import MIDI files with multiple time signatures which is something I really needed.
When recording your voice on a longer song, the music display does not keep up with your voice input.
Can't turn off the verbal help when revisiting a lesson. Gets annoying to have to listen over and over to the introduction to a section rather than being able to simply do the lesson.
limited use April 25, 2009 beanhead This is not a bad system if all you want to do is record your practice sessions. However the written music often comes without standard notes and you can't go far with the system.
DOESN'T work with Windows Vista March 2, 2009 Cynthia Crank (Tampa, Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are not any updates to work with Vista and the company tech line doesn't return phone calls. I don't recommend the Product!!! NOR THE COMPANY TECH SUPORT!!!! HORRIBLE!
Great Product Highly Recommended November 28, 2008 Thomas J. Hatton 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have owned this product for many years and love it!! I owned the previous rendition of the product and after using it for several years discoverd there was a new upgraded version. When I contacted the manufacturer they immediately upgraded me to the new Singing Coach Unlimited (for free). (Have owned thier products more than 5 years). I am not a trained muscian. I just like to sing at church and in the choir. I don't read music so I find the program very useful for verifying I am singing the correct notes. No everything doesn't work perfectly. I have not been able to get it to work on Vista but it runs just fine on an XP machine. I have imported a number of songs into the program and they work great. I have even tried writing my own within the program and it seems to work I just don't have the patience to learn what I need to know about muscic to do it properly. If you can find a midi version of the song you want on the internet you can probably import it into the program. That is what I do and if you keep at it you can get it to work. You can also write your own midi and import it as another option for getting a song into the program. I imagine a trained vocalist would not find it as useful but it works for me and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend who likes to sing.
