5 out of 5 stars Makes learning fun   May 12, 2007

I have really enjoyed learning Dutch with this product. No, it isn't going to make you fluent, but it's a great aid in learning vocabulary. I have found it great fun to work with. It may be a bit too simple for some. I have even ordered the next version of it. My Dutch husband thinks it's a great product, also!

4 out of 5 stars Good for very basic introduction   February 10, 2007

This is a very good introduction to the language, but it's a VERY basic introduction. The format is easy to follow, and the games/tests make it easy to pick up and remember words quickly. The native speakers are sometimes difficult to understand, and they don't always pronounce the words in the same way. Also, the people in the program are kind of creepy.. they just stare and smile and blink A LOT. The content is a bit small, but again, it's a good base. This would be very good for someone who just wants a base for traveling. If you're looking to become fluent in Dutch, investigate something that has more content; you'll probably save money in the long run.

1 out of 5 stars Who knows   June 29, 2006

I never received the product. The shipping date was pushed back beyond the date of my trip and I really did not see a need for this after I returned from the Netherlands. I am not sure why I was asked to review an order I cancelled but, that's what happens when your customer service is run by robots with cute names like Tina L, Gerry M, Adolf H, etc.

4 out of 5 stars Great Place to start   November 28, 2005

This is a great place to start when learning Dutch. One feature that is very useful: you can have the person repeat the word for you. I do find it a little confusing as there are 2 people who can say a word and sometimes their pronunciations differ. But I do like it.

I really like going back and trying the different games to become familiar with the words.

I have not tried the voice recognition as I do not have a microphone on my computer.

I have improved my memory recall of the proper way to say words in Dutch. For the price, it is a great start.
