Excellent foundational math program May 12, 2008 We have used this software for many years to ensure our home school students have a firm understanding of the principles of mathematics. We have also used it to assess and strengthen their understanding of high school and college level mathematics for college entrance examinations.
The program provides math terminology, step by step analysis for each topic (including pause and resume) as well as a friendly voice to guide students through each topic. Our primary focus has been the Algebra and Trigonometry lessons although the calculus is excellent as well.
We're currently using an old version (1999) on a Vista laptop and haven't experienced any technical issues. It's a great program and I look forward to future releases!
Does not replace a textbook June 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This software does not replace good textbooks, but I think it's engaging enough to push good students over the brink to appreciate and excel at mathematics.
Not much fun, but excellent teaching September 3, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I used this as a revision when I went back to school after a few years of not having done any math. I expected to do no more than refresh my memory, but I was thrilled to find this software really shows you new ways to approach and understand the math, so I came out with a much better understanding than I ever had before.
There is a downside. One might expect learning software to be a little more fun than reading from a book. This really isn't. In fact, there's not really any point to this being in software form rather than as a book, as it's not interactive, doesn't have any multimedia and more or less reads like a book. Still, it's a wonderful way to get a deeper understanding of high school level math.

The problem with installation was a compatability issue. In the accessories on Windows XP they have a compatabilty wisard that got the program running. This progam may be just fine but it is for Windows 98 and older machines. This software was previously called "The Princeton Review: Math Library"
Covers Everything! April 18, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
From Pre-Algebra to Calculus, this collection of CDs covers every level of math that is taught in high school. Don't let the "high school" label fool you--the Calculus CD is good for college kids and the Pre-Algebra and Algebra discs are suitable for middle schoolers, especially with some schools now teaching Algebra I in eighth grade.
The examples are presented well, and are worth writing down. There are enough practice problems on each section to supplement what is in a textbook, and they too are well done.
One thing to note--I bought my MPM in May 2003, and at that time the Calculus CD did not have a Mac OS X native version. It runs fine through Classic, though.
