3 out of 5 stars hey, did anybody know this was made into a movie...   January 4, 2010
Z.M. (Grass Valley, CA USA)
i got this because i thought it would be kinda like spellforce, fate, or maybe even the witcher.... but no... it's completely boring!!!

gameplay: to move, you have to click everywhere! you can't hold it down... it doesn't work! but that didn't bother me, i'm kinda used to that. i did like that when you have the map up, you can click where you want to go, and even attack creatures. and i loved that you can control up to 6 other characters... besides your character, and that it wasn't like an RTS in that way.

graphics: they're ok... i mean for a game made in 2002 they're pretty good, and it will run on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of vista.

story: this is the wierdest part... as is said before, the game was actually made into a movie with Jason Statham... and it was kinda good, but NOTHING like the game! if you saw the movie... DON'T expect the same out of the game! the game's story is very boring. to me, a game without a good story sucks! and this didn't even have an ok story.

replay value: it's ok.... i guess... but i wouldn't really know... i only played it once, but i did have a few problems with bugs... but not to serious.

music: the music is kinda ok.... not really good, but for backround music it's alright.

so overall... it's an ok game... if you look past the terrible story, wierd gameplay, and the few bugs!!! ...some games are so good, i'd buy them again... FULL price, but this game isn't even worth the shiny plastic it came in!!!

if you want adventure, DON'T GET THIS!!!.... i'd recommend getting something like devil may cry, titan quest, or maybe even F.E.A.R. if your into first-person shooters.

3 out of 5 stars Weak, but classic   July 18, 2009
D. Nelson (New England)
Yes, I know this is a hack and slash game. And yes, that's what I wanted in this game. And that's what I got. Mostly. But it's also a very aggravating game for these reasons:

1. There are no good walkthroughs or guides for it. Some walkthroughs are good on maps, but the text is like "go left and then fight some things, then when you're done with that area, there is a boss... and after him, go down this corridor..." Ugh.

2. The game practically grinds from stress when you actually do have 8 characters in your party. And the foolish walkthroughs tell you to keep replacing your wizard, when actually, you should collect up most of the wizards because they're so powerful at range. So the graphics are moving in jerks, esp in megamap mode.

3. The complexity of ouifitting your party are insane. I would spend at least 2 hours on every equipment shopping trip. And you absolutely must have the backpacknate mod because otherwise you'll be forced to throw away stuff you're about to be able to use. The game gives you so much stuff, it's impossible to carry it all and sell it. And yet, you never have enough money.

4. There is no way to quickly move back to the "hub" of your current chapter (ie with a teleport gem or something), so if you discover that you forgot something, you have to walk all the way back.

5. On a related note, you are never expected to go back to any area, so people who gave you quests almost never are aware that you completed them. This is most annoying after you finish the game, when you go back to the King in the dungeon cell, and try to tell him it's over, he just tells you "Godspeed" and gives you the key to the Chamber of Stars again. No reward, no anything. It's as if you never did it.

6. If you don't get all your characters up to level 54 (unmodified), you can't take them to the next level of difficulty in the Multiplayer game. Gee, I don't remember anyone telling me THAT. Or even hinting it. So most of my characters are hopeless.

7. If you don't keep your knife from the beginning of the game, you can't get into a secret Chicken level in the Multiplayer game. So that kills that fun right there. It's not like the game even hints by saying "The farmer could never get rid of his trusty knife, even if it no longer served him well." Nope, no hint.

On a positive note:

1. It's amusing for about two-four weeks. Replayability is hampered, but still very possible, for the reasons stated above (the level limits, the lack of multiple maps, etc...)

2. It's very stable and only crashed once on me (while I was adding/deleting party members).

3. It has some nice graphics. Each magical weapon has one of several "glows" or "sparkles." Each magic spell has its own visible effect.

4. You don't get stuck too often. The game is easy enough to beat. Even the last boss was only tricky because he kept running away from you.

Other good hack and slash games I've played are: Champions of Norrath, The Bard's Tale, Baldur's Gate "Dark Alliance 1 and 2."

5 out of 5 stars Dungeon Siege- Fun for all   July 15, 2009
Z. Miller (AZ)
It has been a long time since someone has entered a review on this game, so let me be the first in 7 years to tell you this game has all the fun and effects one expects from a game built just for that- fun! I have played various different pc games of the same genere and let me tell you, if you want to kick back and really have fun, then this is the game for you, if you want to sweat at your computer trying to figure out 1,000 different key combos then , well, it isn't. I have been playing Dungeon Siege for many years and when I lost my original copy I freaked when the bookstores and game shops told me it wasnt availible in stores anymore, then I was pointed to Amazon.com, THANK YOU AMAZON.COM for reuniting me with my favorite pc game of all times!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing rpg game   June 25, 2009
R. Huston
Let me just say that as old as this game is, Dungeon Siege is still an amazing and fun rpg game to play. I thoroughly enjoyed the visual environments, very creative and artistic. Plus, the soundtrack of Jeremy Soule is brilliant. His music works so well and helps bring the game to life. If rpg games are your thing then Dungeon Siege is the game for you. The game play and user interface is easy to use and if you are into modding your game play, then websites like Siegenetwork.com provide all kinds of helpful mods and additions for your gaming experience. One mod I found helpful called, backpack, increases the size of your characters inventory in order to carry more items.

Dungeon Siege is a winner, get this game.

4 out of 5 stars A good way to waste a couple of days.   May 19, 2009
Aladdin Sarsippius (St. Petersburg, FL United States)
Nice graphics & sound. Slight issues with Windows Vista, but overall a fun game to play. I've been playing for almost 13 hours and don't even think I'm halfway through the game yet.
