I bought this book for our grandson who is 8 yrs old. He loves to read and the stories are wonderful as well as the illustrations by Beatrice Potter. I will order one for our little granddaughter as soon as she is old enough to enjoy. I would recommend this book as it is a lifetime treasure of beautiful stories.

These are nice books with good stories and beautiful illustrations, the problem is that the English is "old". Nothing wrong with that, of course, but my 4 year old had a very confused look on his face as it was clear he didn't understand many of the words or the sentence structure. It just isn't what kids are used to hearing. So, just be forewarned about what you're getting with these books.

This book is not the pick-up-and-read size for a young reader. It's for the "read to me" time of day I think. So it's a great bonding device not quite suited to the busy caregiver.
The stories are cosy and impart much wisdom. The illustrations are as stimulating as the stories. So set aside quality time for the questions that follow.
The tone is gentle and values are not ignored.
Valuable addition to a child's library.
