Great book, painful but real. In the short time that it takes to read, you enter into this story and her life. Moving.

but I read to learn or for pleasure. This was an assault on my senses. The story is extremely sad and in some passages, I felt sick. I guess the author is a success in that regard; not an enjoyable read.

While the premise of the narrative is from that of an illiterate 16 year old, it was difficult to read. I enjoyed the story, it's a part of society shielded from so many yet affecting so many at the same time. The story didn't seem like it had an ending, it just ended, I hope the movie is better.

This book should be read. The movie did not do the book ANY justice. Loved the book, it will send you into every emotion. It had hate, jeolousy, love, mental and physical abuse, incest, everything that could have happen, just about did.......READ it. Easy read, only about 140 pages........

I was not able to put this book down. I found it refreshing that a book which was undertaking such topics as these was written from the point of view and language of Precious Jones. (Boy, did the book give me flashbacks.) No excuses were offered for language, topics, etc. Very well written. Sometimes hard to follow given that I am a stickler for correct grammar, spelling. I really want to see the movie now!
I advised my 24 year old daughter to read the book but she quickly declined when I began to tell her the plot. She's missing a very good read.
