easy to do and fun February 3, 2010 Wendy Kreider (RIVERTON, IL, US) My son has really enjoyed working on this workbook and he seems to go back to it even though we have finished just about all of the pages.
Great resource for teachers, not really for homeschool July 7, 2009 Jennifer Smith (Virginia, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a number of workbooks from several series for my children to work with over the summer. DK workbooks (which were inferior in every way and I returned all 4), the Complete Book series, the Scholastic Success series (which are really intended for in-school supplementation but were okay for use over the summer), and the Spectrum series. The Spectrum and Complete Book Of series were superior in every way to the other workbooks and I will order from them again next summer.
Because this book is targeted at teachers, the material is of that busy-work style: brainteasers, do simple math and answer the riddle, etc. It does not follow a clear order for advancing or teaching. It's more practice-oriented. It is perfect for summer supplementation or in-school enrichment, but would not be a good choice for a homeschooler.
The pages are black and white -- good for photocopying, but could be boring.
Tricky April 2, 2009 D. M. Meyer (Berkeley Springs WV, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are looking for some straight forward practice with 2nd grade math skills, this is not the right book. Most of these activities require more than one step, for example: solve the addition problem then use the answer to plot a point on the graph. This book is not at the beginner's level, but is fine for students who need a challenge.
