Quicken Desk Guide March 16, 2010 Born in Devon (Silicon Valley, California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although I have been using Quicken for about fifteen years, I keep the current Quicken official guide on my desk. The software is excellent for beginners and especially for those wishing to avoid credit card debt and financial dangers ahead. The guide provides assistance in understanding the full capability of the software.
Great Resource Tool March 15, 2010 Shelia Powell-faulkner (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book is really helpful with using Quicken 2010. There so much more to Quicken 2010 and this great resource tool is a must have for new users as well as experienced users. I have used Quicken more than 10 years and I love this book.

Maria, I did not buy your book and opted instead for your competition in that you did not offer a look inside. In an information-centric world, when this option is so easy and frankly expected, it looks like you believe the product will not stand up to comparison.
Not worth the money -- buy another. February 27, 2010 J. Shammas (New York) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am quite disappointed.
I was a Microsoft Money user--this book did not help me. I know I can modify a register. My question would be how to get to the register to modify it. I can't easily tell you that. (part of the problem just may be that Quicken is not as user friendly as Money).
If I want to modify [something] and I'd like to know if it's on the account list, or the setup tab, or the peference icon --and it's just not easy to navigate. This book just didn't help in understanding quicken's organization.
It seems to have been written by someone going over the program. For example, if on the screen is a transaction windows. The book essentially says:
to add a new transaction click the "add" button (in a half a page); to delete a transaction, click the "delete" button (another half a page); to modify the transaction, click the "modify" button. If you modify a transaction, a register with 6 fields comes up (check #, date, description, amount, etc.). If you want to change the check number, click in the check number field and type in the new number. If you want to change the amount, click in the amount field and type the new number....
I am being a little harsh--because I'm very disappointed. True, the author occasionally does give little explanations of why you would want to do something.
And it might help if you're in the section doing things as she explains them.
But a read-through doesn't give you any great command of the program.
