5 out of 5 stars Super Salsa Moves   January 22, 2008
This set was awesome. I originally bought it because I wanted to learn the basics of Salsa dancing. Just to try it out. But, once I started learning the techniques and moves, I was really drawn into learning more. I needed a partner, so my wife was there to soak up all of my new moves. We really enjoyed the format and great pace of the set. I would recommend this great set for anybody!

5 out of 5 stars From a Bumbling Wannabe to a Salsa Dancer   January 20, 2008

I decided to purchase the beginner's 3-pack after watching my friends salsa dance at a wedding last summer. It looked like so much fun, but standing off to the side because I didn't know how was less fun.

After going through the three DVDs, I can proudly say that my days as a wallflower are over!

I was worried about having a complete lack of knowledge about salsa dance, but the first DVD in the set starts with the very basics. I learned basic steps, how to keep with the rhythm of the music, and how to carry myself. The first DVD also included some very basic moves and dances to practice the basics with.

By the time I'd graduated to the second DVD, I was dancing! It was difficult at first, but I discovered just how fun the dancing was, so with practice and tips from the instructor, I could feel myself becoming much more confident with my dance moves. The instructor was there every step of the way, and I found that watching and listening really did make a difference in my ability to "get it."

The third DVD was almost like a dress rehearsal. It was basically the same music and same dances I'd be doing in public, except that I was in the safety of my living room. By the time I'd gotten to this point and had mastered the dances and rhythms on the final DVD, I felt completely confident in stepping out onto the dance floor to shock my friends!

Let me finish this by saying that I am not a skilled dancer by any means! I don't have a background in dancing at all, but this DVD set was easy to follow and fun to use, even for someone with absolutely no dancing knowledge whatsoever! I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars SalsaCrazy Presents: Learn to Salsa Dance, Beginners 3 Pack: The Complete Beginners Salsa Dancing Guide   September 12, 2007

Exclente eleccion.

5 out of 5 stars From "A" to "I Really Am Getting the Hang of This"   February 20, 2007

SalsaCrazy is teaching West Coast style, "on 1," not New York style, "on 2." You may want to look into that. I highly recommend SalsaCrazy as a guide through on 1. It starts with basic steps without music, repeats with music, then singles out fine points in the "move" - good habits that need to be second nature before you advance to the tricky stuff. Fun, very thorough, well-paced.

5 out of 5 stars Show off your flavor and style   September 9, 2006

If your idea of dancing is a one, two chip step and an occasional dip, then it's time for a different type of Salsa in your life. A fusion of African, Cuban and Latin American rhythms, the word means "flavor" or "style", and unlike the "show-off" dancing that takes over the whole dance floor, this dance form occupies a smaller fixed area, retaining the intimacy of the dance while making it quite obvious that you know what you're doing.

Salsa utilizes an eight beat pattern, two bars of four beats, with three steps and a skipped beat in each bar. The skipped beat is often used for something fancy like a toe tap or kick. Salsa can be danced solo or with a partner, but you'd better learn both, because once you start strutting your stuff on the dance floor you're sure to get a lot of willing partners.

If you're serious about kicking your dance life up a notch, and have a partner that doesn't have two left feet, this Beginners three-pack is recommended for you. If you just want to taste before buying, you should rent or borrow Volume One, which is available separately, but for the whole experience, this three DVD package is the most convenient.

The instructors make it easy by first demonstrating the steps slowly, one movement at a time, and then repeating the figures over and over to give you enough time to get the idea. This means that you don't have to stop dancing and replay the section continuously, even though you still need to practice afterwards. The steps are eye-catching, and can be used in the formal ballroom dance arena as well as casually at a clubs, parties and even in your living room. For people who have previous experience with this dance form, the instructors offer up lots of tips and secrets, and even if you already dance like a star you can learn something from this series. (I showed this one to a highly experienced and qualified dance instructor, and even she was duly impressed.)

If you're ready to put some spice in your dance life, it's Salsa time!!!
