Product Description Geometry is frequently a frustrating subject for students because the problems almost always involve a complicated figure that intimidates the student. Compounding the problem is that Geometry involves definitions that make things seem harder than they really are. The Geometry Tutor is a 9 hour course that takes things step by step so that no one gets lost. The definitions and theorems are presented with examples so that the student does not simply memorize the terms but rather he or she truly understands the material. Since each example problem uses a figure just as a textbook does, the student gains familiarity and confidence with reading figures, which is one of the main sticking points in this course. Finally, the Geometry Tutor is like a personal tutor in your home teaching you the logic behind Geometry that you can pause and rewind as needed. Disk 1 Section 1: Lines, Rays, and Planes Section 2: Working with Angles Section 3: Complimentary and Supplementary Angles Section 4: Working with Intersecting Lines Section 5: Types of Triangles Section 6: Congruent Triangles Section 7: The Pythagorean Theorem Section 8: Introduction to Polygons Disk 2 Section 9: Quadrilaterals Section 10: Similar Triangles Section 11: Perimeter Section 12: Area of Rectangles Section 13: Area of Parallelograms Section 14: Area of Triangles Section 15: Area of Trapezoids Section 16: Area of Prisms Section 17: Volume of Prisms and Pyramids Section 18: Circles and Circular Figures Section 19: Cylinders, Cones, and Spheres Section 20: Geometric Proofs

MUST-HAVE Geometry Tutor July 31, 2008 Absolutely the BEST high-school geometry help I have ever seen. We purchased four other formats at the same time, and this is the only one we ended up using (or needing) for the full course. Simple, concise presentation without bells and whistles. Fully comprehensive and easy to navigate to specific points; friendly and casual, like having a teacher on remote! If you are going to spend money on geometry help, you absolutely MUST HAVE the Geometry Tutor.
Outstanding! June 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is just one of several dvd's I own by the same author, and this dvd on geometry, like his others, is excellent. As with all of his titles, Jason does an outstanding job of keeping things simple, clear and yet thorough. He's extremely effective at presenting the why's and how's of math formulas and concepts in more than one way. For example, in this dvd, he presents the concept of a triangle as being "half" a rectangle -- when you see his representation of this using the whiteboard, suddenly this both clarifies the concept of a triangle also shows connections to other concepts you might not have considered.
In addition to explaining math concepts, Jason goes through several examples, allowing you to follow along with pen and paper at the same time.
It's a rare gift to be able to explain things clearly and simply without dumbing down the subject (far from it -- he's also good at explaining challenging examples, too). Jason Gibson does an outstanding job in removing the mystery -- and by extension, anxiety, and focusing on what you really need to know!
a shame about the cold June 13, 2008 The dvd is good, but I find it rather annoying that Jason has got a nasty cold. It screws up hisvoice and takes away his fire...
SO HELPFUL! June 7, 2008 I wish I would have known about this DVD before, because if I did, I probably would not be taking it for the second time this summer! Anyway, the instructor really breaks down all of the important concepts, and it made it so much easier to understand what the heck I am supposed to do. I would recommend this video to anyone who is having difficulty with Geometry!
Great For Homeschoolers! May 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the Geometry Tutor DVD for my nephew. We homeschool and have found the math Tutor DVDs, including the Geometry Tutor DVD, to be excellent educational resources.
My nephew says that the lessons are clear and concise, that the information is presented in a manner where he grasps the concepts immediately, and that problems to work out the concepts are plentiful.
We heartily recommend this program to anyone, either those trying to refresh an already familiar subject, or those learning geometry for the first time. Because we are homeschooling, we will continue to use these Tutor DVDs in the future.
