Take the best elements from Seinfeld and Arrested Development and you have It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Combining the social-degenerate-buddy formula (three men, one woman) with the beyond-dysfunctional-family element, Philadelphia creates scenarios that are so hysterical, wrong, appalling, familiar, embarrassing, uncomfortable, and entertaining, the show is addictive like staring at a car wreck when you know you shouldn't, but you just can't look away; it's invigorating like a fresh, loud, wake-up slap on the face. The writing, the quick timing, and the performances are so natural, one wonders if anyone is even acting (but hopes to heaven they are). Danny DeVito joined the cast in the second season, in one of the best roles on TV. DeVito is "Frank," the buddy dad that just wants to be part of the gang, the dad that looks good on paper, but the experience for his kids is more like taking care of a vicious dog that isn't potty-trained. Three of his four talented cohorts (Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElhenney) not only star in the series, but write it as well. Thanks to their new take on old themes and a willingness to stretch the boundaries of appropriateness and exploit the audiences' inner insecurities, originality is back on TV.--Rachel Moss Beyond It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Groundbreaking TV: Arrested Development | Fox TV Store | More from Danny DeVito |

Super Funny November 12, 2009 AMAZON GIRL (CA, USA) This show is awesome. It is consistently entertaining and funny. I wish I started watching this show when it first came out. I LOVE it and so does my husband! We have been telling everyone we know to watch the show if they don't already.
Sunny with a slight chance of cloud November 5, 2009 Bookworm (US) The premise is not new, but the execution is hilarious. Not all episodes have the wit and twisted humor, but most do deliver the goods.
Unique, politcally incorrect-FUNNY October 27, 2009 C. J Prunty (Phoenix) I have learned to become nervous when a movie or TV show is billed as "politically incorrect" and thus funny. I find that in most cases politically incorrect means that Hollywood targets the republicans (yawn), or your treated to an endless stream of teenage boy fart and poop jokes. But, I finally decided to give this show a try and ordered the DVD. I wasn't dissapointed. I am amazed at how many different topics they landed on and took them down varied paths of politically incorrectness. The element of surprise is definitely there, which translates into a very funny, well written series. I would recommend this to people who want something fresh and won't be easily offended if their politics are "challanged". I would think a little bit harder in recommending this to the younger crowd, parents should probably preview this first and decide if it is right for them.
It's Always Funny... October 19, 2009 Robert S. Wells (Clifton, NJ United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently got turned on to this show (now in it's 5th season) and just had to get up to speed by buying the earlier seasons. What can I say? It's hilarious! Every time I watch I find yet another reason to crack up. This is a show that begs to be watched over and over, so owning the DVD's is a must.
Holy Crap, this show is a riot!! October 17, 2009 Christopher Carroll I almost never find much of anything on T.V. funny, but this show has it. Comedy that can be considered offensive, and way out there...but the writers/actors don't give a damn, which gives them almost no limitations with what they will do, and I love it. The show was a riot before Danny DeVito was a part of the cast, but now that he's on the show, it has gone from a riot to freakin' hilarious. Each character is great in their own way.
