A Winner! November 21, 2009 Liseli Our 1 1/2 year-old just loves this video. It's the perfect combination of song and dialogue. It features kids saying poo poo and pee pee in various ways, which he finds hilarious, of course, and has a fun hand washing sequence that is narrated as a sport's competition. There is also a cartoon of a giant, King Kong-style monkey, who listens to his body which tells him to eat a sandwich shop, scratch with a pine tree, drink from a fire hydrant, and finally feel the urge to go. The whole thing is narrated in a 1950's style that makes it even more interesting. The entire DVD is very creative and entertaining. It also encourages children to be patient and just "keep on trying" which is a good message that takes the pressure off. Our son watches it over and over again, has learned new words, and become more comfortable with the idea of using the potty as a result.
Elmo's a potty hit October 2, 2009 Vanessa M. Carroll 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A friend recommended this video to me to aid in potty training. My son likes it; at first he wasn't too interested in it but after the 3rd time watching it he got into it. It is cute with music and engages him. I like that it emphasizes it's okay to have accidents and everyone learns at there own pace.
LOVE IT!! September 21, 2009 Bianca Gauthier (Rochester, NY) Yes- it does break from the "Elmo's World" format, but that is just one of the many cool things about this video. It's different, but GREAT. Educational, cute, fun..all in one. It talks about going on the potty and all those "fun" topics in a way that kids will love and understand. Its entertaining but speaks to kids in a way we cannot. Its goes into different terms we use in potty training, the concept of "mistakes" and how they are o.k., it talks about the "keep trying" concept, the "wash your hands" concept, it talks about common kid fears, etc. My son loved the music and Elmo's dad is a great addition. He's a riot!! My son is almost 3 and really liking this video, the more he watches it.
Son Loved It September 11, 2009 Ricosgirl (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Initially, I was disappointed with this video. But that did not seem to matter because my son loved it. My viewpoint: "Sitting" on the potty was abstract. There was only one scene in which a child was about to sit on the potty. Most of the scenes included children and monsters going to the bathroom, shutting the door and then you would hear flushing and hand washing. So you had to infer what was going on behind the doors. Obviously you can't have a bunch of children streaking but I imagine they could have had a few more monsters tastefully sitting on the potty. The characters were great, the songs very catchy. My son's viewpoint: he loved it. He watched it as many times as a new video can be watched and then stopped. A few months later he started requesting it again and dragging his potty chair to the living room to sit on while watching. He started singing the songs when we were out and then decided he was ready to train. At 2.5 he stopped using diapers completely, no pull ups and dry through the night (no diapers). When he has an accident we sing the video song "Accidents Happen". Now did the video have anything to do with the success of his training? I do not know. Other than making him aware of it and having everything on hand, we were not verbally encouraging him to start and were not planning on doing that until he reached 3. So in my opinion, buy and use every tool you can. Something will click.
Outstanding Elmo DVD! August 12, 2009 Karen Constant We rented this DVD on Netflix and then decided to buy it because it is outstanding. It presented the potty training process in a fun, educational and clear way. My 3 year old daughter loves Elmo and just loves to watch this DVD - grown-ups will enjoy watching it too. The rating on Netflix for this DVD is 5 stars and we absolutely agree. We loved it!!
