Eh August 29, 2009 Richard Lim (windy west) I bought the first video and was a happy camper, I recieved this one and it seemed to cover less important information and was 4 hours less than the first one. Also in the first one he toke his time and walked you through step by step, in this one he runs through problems like a frieght train and at times I had to rewind a few times, not up to his teaching standards as he was on fractions to algebra. Im disappointed.but the quality is a little better but sound cuts out and is pitchy occassionally.nothing to drastic.
Very good overview. June 1, 2009 Mike S. (Minneapolis, MN) First, this is a DVD of a guy standing in front of a white board doing math problems. It is not going to be the most exciting thing on earth, and depending on how you learn, may or may not be for you. Second, as the instructor says, he does not cover every topic one is likely to encounter in a specific class. He covers what he thinks the "main" points are. Third, the instructor presumes that you have a foundation in certain topics, so he does not go into great detail on the basics you need to solve the problems on this particular DVD.
With that said, as a person who has not taken a math class in over 10 years, and am returning to school to take some math and science classes, this is as the title says a great overview. Each chapter on the DVD builds upon the previous one, and the instructor provides many examples of how to work through the problems. It is most definitely meant to be a supplement to class and the textbook, not a replacement for either.
Simple and to the point April 11, 2009 Jose A. Soto (Yuma, Arizona United States) i liked this product it was clear and easy to see and understand . It was just like stitting in the clasroom and watching the teacher.
good stuff November 19, 2008 Iraklis K. Voridis (athens greece) the teacher is very good. the board is somewhat more confined than in subsequent DVDs in the series. i think he makes the occasional minor slip on the board--he should have admitted it in front of the camera and cleared it away at once. the DVD would have become much more useful if some computer graphics had been used--for example when plotting functions. finally the box in which the DVDs are contained is very practical
Good stuff May 31, 2008 Marcus Trise (Maryland) I have all his DVD's. The lessons are great. They cover the basics that are important in the class. Of course not all information is covered in the DVD's. Think of it as an overview of hot topics. I have used these DVD's before I took a class and them reviewed them along the way. I also have purchased some of the idoit and dummy guides as a type of work book. They all together give you a different way to look at the math martial. Because as you know, most math books are written by brainy math folks, and they are not the easiest to follow.
