I'm an ESL instructor and have used this video in the classroom. El Ingles de Hoy is not for beginning students but for those at the literacy level with some previous ESL instruction. Overall, I found the video to be a practical tool that helps motivated learners gain conversational proficiency. The video presents several common situations and introduces vocabulary and phrases appropriate for that situation. In this way, it helps students apply classroom knowledge to real-life scenarios. I would also recommend this video for self-instruction as the video comes with a dual-language instructional booklet.

Es un video creado especialmente para aquellos que necesitan mejorar su conversacion. Para hablar con seguridad y entender con precision en cualquier situacion, especialmente de la vida social y de negocios. Viene con una guia impresa que incluye todas las frases en ingles y espanol para poder seguir los dialogos sin perder palabra. Lo mejor de este DVD no es lo que incluye sino lo que excluye, no tiene nada que no sea aplicable. Para personas con poco tiempo libre que necesitan ir al grano y aprender frases y nociones utiles para mejorar en su trabajo y entorno social. En fin, es un gran curso para cualquiera que desee aprender ingles sin profesor, en la comodidad de su casa y a su propio paso.

Si eres hispano y estas buscando un buen material para mejorar tu ingles "El Ingles de Hoy": Learn English (ESL) DVD for Spanish Speakers, NO es lo que necesitas... Todo lo que presenta son conversaciones que no tienen nada relacionado con las palabras que necesitamos diariamente para comunicarnos, de hecho no te ensenan palabras nuevas, solo como pronunciar oraciones que no te las traducen al espanol... asi que te quedas sin saber que significa lo que repites... usan contracciones que no sabes de que palabra la sacan... en fin es una BASURA... no gastes tu dinero, ojala alguien me lo hubiese dicho antes.

We recently purchased this video for our nanny. It has been a real breakthrough for her, for our family as well. Communication between all of us has greatly improved. I would highly recommend this to any Spanish speaker looking to improve their English speaking skills.
