Amazon.com Kermit takes center stage in this hilarious, parody-laden celebration of Muppetry, pulsating with original music, a star-studded cast of human cameos, and a heartwarming story reminiscent of It's a Wonderful Life. Joan Cusack plays the deliciously villainous Miss Bitterman, a ruthless banker who succeeds in foreclosing on the Muppet Theatre only days before Kermit's Christmas extravaganza. As Kermit loses his livelihood, he plunges into the "I wish I'd never been born" mind-set instantly recognizable to George Bailey fans. It's going to take some Divine intervention (Whoopi Goldberg is cast as God, no less), plus a little help from a heavenly "Clarence." Despite some moments where the script seems adrift (how hard it must be to live up to the irresistible precedent set by the 1979 premier Muppet Movie) and some humor that borders on risqué, Fozzie and the gang are in fine form. The message is sweet: dreams are as vital to life as loyal friendships are to see them through. (Ages 5 and older) --Lynn Gibson
Product Description THE OWNER OF A BANK (MISS BITTERMAN) WANTS TO OWN THE MUPPETTHEATRE. WHEN SHE TRICKS PEPE INTO GIVING HER THE ONLY COPY OFTHE CONTRACT, SHE CHANGES IT SO THE MUPPETS HAVE VERY LITTLETIME TO PAY OFF THE DEBT. THE MUPPETS HAVE TO MAKE A LOT OF SACRIFICES TO SAVE UP SO THEY CAN KEEP THE THEATER.

Muppets rule! January 22, 2010 Neptune's Daughter This Muppet Christmas Movie was a howl! Caveat: It's important that one likes the Muppets or this movie ain't gonna fly. No one and I mean no one has the gumption, nerve or cajones of Miss Piggy. Disrespect her at your own risk. This movie is a fun ride of great escapist value. The notion of always believing in yourself and never giving up winds throughout the film. I think adults who are fortunate enough to remember the enchantment life can bring from the most unexpected places will find this belief reinforced in this movie. I recommend it for all ages.
Great Muppet movie January 21, 2010 David Stewart (Buffalo, NY) I bought this move to replace a VHS version I had that is wearing out.
Not age appropriate material December 7, 2009 Heidi Finney (Ossian, Indiana United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was very disappointed in this movie, as the whole plot was supposed to be similar to "A Wonderful Life" which my kids have not seen, so they did not even get the many references to that movie. On top of that there were references to "a topless bar" and the muppets were getting drunk at a party. It should've been a kids movie made for kids, instead they decided to throw a bunch of adult themes and jokes in there that were totally inappropriate. My kids really didn't even laugh that much!
fooled by the title December 6, 2009 Joseph J. Cylkowski (Michigan) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this last year. Just opened it & watched it today. This is not what we thought it was. This was never a hit. I want the one with Fozzie's childhood home. This has very little of the Muppets. I didnt do enough research. This lloked like the right packaging but i was fooled. Thyis might as well go in the trash heap. I'd donate it to a children group but I dont want the kids to be crying & hating the Muppets.
Would give 0 stars if I could December 1, 2009 Mrs. Smith (Over there) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This movie should *not* be marketed towards children. If you are old and loved the Muppets from way back when, then you will enjoy this. I am a Muppetaholic, but I will not let my kids watch this one. A Muppet Family Christmas and a Muppet Christmas Carol are must sees, but please, don't let your kids watch this one. There is NO reason to put sexual innuendos in a family movie, ever! Very disappointing.
