Wii Speak; Adults have no choice November 1, 2009 Blu (FLA) Everyone doesn't have friends that own a Wii system, thus they won't have friends to use the Wii speak with (Wii speak channel, or in game).
If you don't have friends that own Wii systems, don't buy Wii speak or its useless to you.
Adults should have the option to speak with everyone, or friends only in M-Rated games. They are for adults after all as rated by the ESRB, so Nintendo should give us the choice to enjoy speaking with multiple people or just simply changing the option to friends only when we feel like it.
You can't do it in the Conduit, and I contacted the game company (High Voltage Software) wondering why they didn't give us the option, but they said that Nintendo restricts them as a third party company from giving such an option in their game.
If they allowed the release of House of the Dead Overkill, with all its curse words (and there are a lot, and they also say other things), then what else can adults here in online games?
Maybe they can give us the option to block certain voices in game options if we don't care to hear from a certain person, but "no", "no no no".
So again, if you don't have friends that own the Wii, don't buy the Wii speak, because it will not work. I haven't used mine yet for this very reason, and until I can, I can't give it any more stars above 1.
So much fun, but a little too much feedback October 28, 2009 Laura Smith (Orlando, FL) The Wii Speak offers a whole new level of fun for games like Animal Crossing: City Folk. However, there's a bit of feedback and a delay that can make it hard to hear the person on the other side. I'm guessing it's just the nature of the technology, but hopefully it'll get better with each new version Wii puts out.
Such enormous potential, BUT... August 27, 2009 GB (Minnesota) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
over NINE Months after its release, and only TWO games support it? And only another paltry three coming down the pike?*
Sorry, I would absolutely LOVE to buy this for my kids AND for their Wii-owning, same-aged cousins who live 1800 miles away, who are growing up hardly ever getting to see each other. The verbal interactivity that Wii Speak COULD provide them, while being able to Play Games "together," would be utterly fantastic. But I highly doubt that Animal Crossing: City Folk would hold their eleven-year-old interests for more than a couple sessions, as would the only other two age-appropriate titles in the works.
Yes, I suppose they could hang out on the Wii Speak channel, umm-ing and uhh-ing, or leaving infrequent voice messages for each other, but what advantage does that hold over merely burning our free long-distance minutes on the phone? The whole reason to own such a thing as Wii Speak is the interaction factor, and the Totally LAME number of games supporting a product of such astonishing potential borders on criminal.
As such, the practical usefulness and value of Wii Speak is virtually nil, and I am regrettably forced to give it two stars. I would have given it one star, but I am really hoping that Nintendo will suddenly wake up to what they've got, and not only start writing/adapting their own titles to be Wii Speak-enabled, but use their weight as licensors of the Wii technology to encourage third-party game creators to do so as well.
Better still would be if Nintendo could write the support code right into the Wii System firmware itself, making it possible to verbally interact on ANY Wi-Fi enabled title. Think of the renewed Wii sales momentum. Are you listening, Mr. Iwata?

I bought this to use with Animal Crossing. It works well, it's just i wish that it was compatible with other Wii games as well.
