3 out of 5 stars Cool game, but for one problem...   November 11, 2009

Love the game! However, it has a glitch that locks up the game on level ten in the mine. It does not allow you to progress. You start to hear a clue about fruit of the tree from Calvin, then the system freezes. My sister also has this game and the same thing happens on hers, so it isnt just a defect on my disc. Your only option is to power cycle the Wii. If you had not saved recently your progress is lost. And there is a story line that is unaccessible.

5 out of 5 stars Educational and Fun   September 23, 2009

This game is wonderful! I purchased it for my daughter who is now eight. You move to this island with nothing. You have to work odd jobs to make enough money to buy a farm. Once you have done that you plant your fields, raise animals, fish and lots more. It teaches children how to make money, save money, and responsibility for themselves and their property including their pets. If you don't take care of your animals properly they will die which can be upsetting but also a learning lesson. Quite fun! My daughter has an ostrich which she loves to ride to town or to the shop to buy medicine when an animal gets sick. Very fun the only thing I wish was different is the days are too short. There i so much to do that I haven't mentioned. My daughter loves to visit a money near her house and there is a natural pool of water where it recharges your energy level.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best Harvest Moon Games Yet!   August 27, 2009
I have only been a Harvest Moon fan for about a year or so when I got A Wonderful Life at a yard sale for my GameCube (Remember when we all had those!) I played it and I was hooked. Then when my family upgraded to a Wii and I discovered there was a Harvest Moon game for the Wii, I ran out and bought it.

Graphics: 7/10

While the animation was great, there was a certain...element missing from them that I saw in AWL (A Wonderful Life)

Gameplay: 9/10

The gameplay was AWSOME!! I felt like there was more plot than AWL (Farm, get married, make babies, farm, die) In ToT, your character must revive the Mother Tree and save the Harvest Godess.

Although, I did find the making ranbows part a little agrivating, because it could take weeks of in-game time to finally collect all the ingrediants to creat them.

Also, new animals have been added (Silkworms, Ostriges) and adoptible pets (From Cats and dogs, to Pandas and Turtles) One let-down is your farm has almost NOTHING except an emplty field (No barn, chicken coop, you must build/pay for them yourself, something that is NOT cheep)

But my favortie factor is, you can be a boy and girl IN THE SAME GAME! No more waiting for something like 'Harvest Moon: Another Tree of Tranquility'!

One minor bummer is the loading scene. Every time you enter/leave a place, you get the loading scene. However, it isn't terriblely long, usually taking 5-to-9 seconds.

Farming: 7/10

While the farming is a total step-up, I couldn't help but feel like this game wasn't about farming as much as it was about reviving the Harvest Godess. While farming plays a small part in creating the rainbows, the whole game is not about a sucessful farm thus not making this a farming tipe game.

But, (on a more positive note) more crops have been added. And (Like I said above) more farm/adoptible animals. By the end of the game, I had two cats, one dog, one bear cub(yes, you can adopt a bear cub)and one turtle. (Up to five pets are adoptible) You can have up to twelve livestock (cows, sheep, horses) and (I think) 12 chickens, and silkworms (Thats right, you can actually raise silkworms)

On the downside, you livestock die after about a year and a half or so. As my little sister discovered when her black horse died. Your animal will be given a little ceremony at the towns graveyard.

Family Life: 10/10

Okay, the bachlor/etts are the best. You have six guys and six girls (a total of twelve) And each has its own personality.

The wedding was, well, actually like a wedding (unlike AWL where you just walk arround the town with your spouse)

Your child has more of a purpose in this game than just standing arround your house. At the end of the game, you actually have the choice of playing the game again as your child.

Conclusion:
Dispite its faults, Harvest Moon ToT is a great game, one that I personally will play over and over again. I love how Nintendo has taked a GameCube hit and turned it into a Wii sensation (Unlike Animal Crossing: City Folk) Although, it does have a tendicy to get, well, borring after a while, but thats the same with any other game.
I would recomend this game to anyone!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Harvest Moon Game Yet   August 21, 2009
Beverly S. Suchy (Lowry, MN USA)
This is the best Harvest Moon game I have ever played. You get lots of choices on stuff like where you want to live and what kind of pets you have. You get alot of choices of who you marry. The story line to this game is probaly the best story line for the Harvest Moon games yet. There is many different objects that you can purchase in the game(that makes it really fun because then your always saving money to buy different things whether it's an upgrade to your house or an upgrade to a tool). THIS IS THE GAME TO GET.

3 out of 5 stars A Decent Game But It's No Rune Factory Frontier   June 28, 2009
Rich (CA)
After playing Rune Factory Frontier I was looking at the other game similar to that one and after seeing a few trailers and the price I figured why not, and while the game turned out to be a little entertaining an the end it wasn't up to par of the aforementioned game. The animation is cute but it seems a little to bleak and under developed for a recent game, the bits of voice audio bits in the game is also a headache as the cast seem so apathetic and just downright awful it's better to just read the text bubbles, the load time was also a great headache when you go from the town to your home or to another area the load time was usually awhile and while it wasn't a great deal of time having to go through the load screen every time you seem to go a different area was quite a hassle. The farming is a little neat but again if you played RFF it just doesn't seem to match up. It's a little neat that you can play as a boy or girl and an response try get married to either a male or female town character. But after a few days it does seem to get a bit boring as you try and farm your fields and fish to make money, and bring up friendship points with the towns people. So while it is a somewhat entertaining game at the end if you've played RFF I say stay with that and just pass this one over..
