Product Description Dragonball Z: Burst Limit is the first game of the Dragonball Z series to hit the next generation consoles. It features the detailed graphics and dramatic, seamless battles expected from a next-generation console. During each battle, you will find conditions that create new dramatic scenes with characters and movement reminiscent of the original animation. After the battles, watch a unique story unfold each time you play. There is also a stronger element of offense and defense, due to added energy saving and fighting techniques. Use of special skills will no longer drain energy. The lower your energy, the stronger you get, making for a possible turnaround of the battle.

Fun but lacking replay value. September 28, 2009 Jason Moatz Graphics and style wise this game takes everything good about the PS2 Budokai games and takes them to the next level. The combat is very fun.
The problem comes in the removal of the world tournament. Once you beat the story mode there just really isn't much to do.
Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Review September 25, 2009 J. Cardenas (Mexico) THe game is not any better than the Tenkaichi 3 Version, basically the only good thing it has is the graphics.

i hadn't got the Dragon Ball Z and Prince of percia games... where are they? had you discount from my crdit card? because i need the games or my money back!!!
Like Going Backwards June 15, 2009 L. Navarro I have play a lot of the dbz games made for ps2 and recently I bought the ps3 version since I am a fan anyways, except for the graphics is like going backwards,
I'll narrow it to some pros and cons:
So let be fair, I'll write pros first:
*Graphics as mention before they are really improve a lot more clear and I really like some ki and power display (from the bonus movie or shorts) but...(read below)
*Controls: Controls are easy, really easy... maybe too easy. It requires not much timing for the techniques to be performed. (Basically catch off guard the other player)
*fun: I guess that since I really like the dbz series I find it fun, but (read below: once you finish the game)
*Audio: well nothing bad here, nor anything special, (the faces/mouth almost never goes synchronize with the voices)
*Bonus Movies: well when you advance in the story mode you get 2 bonus movies, like clips of the sagas you passed, they are nice, but half you see there is not on the game
* The regular techniques like just circle and a few others doesn't use KI gauge, this is logical since 5 small light beam hit cant be compared to a full technique that used the same amount of KI on previous games.
cons:
*The game is incomplete, ends at Cell Saga, yes you read correctly, there is no Mayin Buu saga nor anything related to it.
*Some pieces of the sagas are missing in between as well as characters
*In 2 player mode the techniques are to be selected before the battle rather than depending on the player it self, so you can have a super saiyan 2 using low level techniques
*I miss the big explosions en you do a special technique that change the landscape of the current ring and be able to smash them through mountains
*As someone else reviewed too, the techniques most are share so no great variety as before, plus you get tire of seeing the same animation each time finally manage to land it, at least before some did different animations depending on the character.
*I personally feel the game slower than pass versions and to make this point worst the 'unlockables scenes' you will think they are nice until they start showing up in the middle of you technique and when they are over the cpu player just stopped/dodge magically your technique and hit you back
*Once you finish the story mode there is not much more to do in the game, this is a con cuz you can do that I 4 hours may be less, so I hope you have a bother or sister or anyone else to play with.
*Graphics: I did wrote them as pro, but. After seen them in a full HD TV for me is like watching something design for a regular CRT TV at no more than 800x600 because even being displayed at 720p (the game doesn't go to 1080p) the life bars and KI bars are really big compared to the rest of the image so I guess they did it that way so they be visible on a old TV, ........And...... there are some times I can't see any line nor shadow that makes like depth perception possible between head and torso.
*Most people here said "the game at most worth a rental" I'll say they are right, but in my case, I'll keep it, with the empty hope that they do a mega patch to include the next saga. (Plus I collect dbz games)
*the Ki is recharged automagically by the system, this is bad since it takes ability on previous games to manage to charge your Ki here it take to press guard and wait.
*And the grand final the player are too balance, on previous games If I had a Goku super saiyan 3 and hit with a energy technique (not the just circle) I could make 1000 aprox of damage (a full life bar), here to do that you need to hit it more than once with the equivalent power. So I don't see big difference from a normal state to a Hi power transformation other than be able to use some other powers that the difference is not much.
One last thing, I would have forgiven all this if they at least had done the full DBZ sagas with minimum the same amount of characters of previous games. This is the minimum I hope they fix for the next version of this game.
Conclusion: Game is fun for a 2 day rental to get almost full end to end experience of the game.
Not the best dbz game. April 29, 2009 Charlene Tyson (washington D.C) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
its a good game because its on playstation 3 but the moves you can do are limited unlike budokai tenkaichi 3. Burst limit is more like shin budokai on the psp which i did not like.
