One of the Best Soul Calibur's November 16, 2009 Kevin Blank (Costa Rica) Great graphicas. Fight modes are excellent. The addition of Characters and fight abilities brings a lot more to the game that its predecessors. I wrealy recommend purchising it, you will get a lot out of it.
A Somewhat Disappointing Addition October 30, 2009 Jason W. "Chun" (CA, USA) Soul Calibur IV lacks variety and innovation. In contrast to its predecessor, it's actually a couple step back.
The graphic upgrade is evident. Fluidity and overall enjoyment are still high, but the game lacks depth.
Regardless, Soul Calibur IV is worth picking up for any console owners at its current low price, and remains a welcomed addition to the genre.
Soul Calibur IV October 26, 2009 Lee Hidalgo (Chicago,ILL) the game is beautiful in terms of graphics.
the game play is the same from the ps2 version(SC2,SC3,), but only slightly different with some new characters.
because im a soul calibur fan, i loved the game.
and the character creation had an over haul since it first debuted on the ps2.
over all, i liked it.
The only game I play September 26, 2009 Gatsbi (Los Angeles, CA) Not a heavy gamer, but some how have managed to collect 10+ games.
However, this is the game I play the most.
Well, arcade mode, or tower mode, I have to say is awfully boring.
Go online and play against other players! It is quite the fun despite some lagging.
After 1300+ wins and 2100+ looses... I'm not the best fighter or even a good player at all, but I could at least say that I have played enough matches to say that this game has quite the depth as a fighting game.
See you in PSN if you happen to pick it up. I only play Amy based custom characters with pale skinned female, dressed in all white with vampirelish look...
A high calibur game that lacks soul August 25, 2009 J. Hill (Colorado) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Soul Calibur has been a favorite, since Soul Edge on PS1. It's one of the only, if only fighting games that let's you use weapons. The fighter creation is fun and you'll spend hours creating the perfect looking character. At one point I had green hulk and hulk lady versions, that were ripped to the core with green skin, hair and eyes. Still, they feel like identical versions of the classic character available to you - which of course they are since you give them the style of an already existing model. However, I wish the game had more of a soul and was more than just another fighting game where you beat someone silly until they fall out the ring or at your feet. The experience because of that fact gets sooooo old, sooooo quick. Man, next gen developers need to understand that people need more than beautiful character models, background environments and amazing wisps of hair, oh and cleavage lol. I mean there was so much background to the characters stories that it would've been nice to see it, rather than read 5 paragraphs before you started your climb to the top. I used to look forward to the end CG sequences on the PS2 versions so much, that it made the journey worth it. But now, all I get is the character walking off the screen with the evil sword. I don't know how I feel about that, when the only prize is another character - never unique enough to warrant yet ANOTHER nearly identical match set on my way to where, the top. But what a nice looking journey it is, no?
