Significantly less quality than newer titles August 18, 2009 Wesley Keppy (IA/IL) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been playing GH World Tour, Metallica, and Smash Hits prior to trying this game. I rented the previously mentioned titles, but purchased this one because it was less than $8 and Family Video sold all their copies.
I found this title to be quite inferior in comparison. The songs sound terrible. The vocals are drowned out and the guitar sounds like a midi recreation rather than the original. It was also much pickier about hitting notes, sometimes even when you're dead on. I had to turn down the "FX" volume because when you miss a note the nasty twang kills the music. Combined with bs misses, it gets frustrating quickly. My recommendation is to try one of the newer GH's.
Song list is good, but the covers are bad. July 15, 2009 E. Brubaker The only complaint I really have is that the covers of the songs typically sounded sub-par, but all in all it's your standard GH game and you will find some pleasure out of playing it.
AWESOME!!! June 29, 2009 T.springer This game is amazing. I love all the music ....this game would have been perfect, but, i found one thing that World tour have that this one doesnt. And this little thing is such a bummer. On world tour, if something comes up and you pause the song, once you resume it, it will have a count down so you can prepare to continue where you left off. This game doesnt have that, which makes it very difficult if you are work on getting 100 streaks!( I have little ones around, so its hard not having to pause it). Besides this little thing. It is my favorite game of all!
Love it! May 31, 2009 J. Espinosa (Germany) I love Guitar Hero period but Guitar Hero III is by far the best! I love that you are able to slow down a song so that it is the speed you need to practice and also the songs on it are actually songs that I know, they have some old classic songs but also some newer songs. It is just a fun game but it is addicting!
Lots of fun, but a little short December 3, 2008 William McNeill (Cumberland, RI) This was loads of fun. The boss battles were great. Playing against Tom Morello and Slash was a blast. If you like any of the Guitar Hero games or even Rock Band, this is worth your time. I would get it on sale like I did.
The only cons I can think of are it's really, really short. I beat the game in about four hours. Yes, I can replay some of the songs and try to unlock some others, but the game has been "beaten" so I'm not sure how much replay value there is.
The second con is the set list at the higher stages is a little heavy on metal songs. I don't mind playing some staples like One by Metallica and Paranoid by Black Sabbath, but some of the others were too heavy for a more mainstream taste. Not so much that I wouldn't buy the game, but I did finding myself going back to lower levels just to mix it up before I tried moving on.
But overall, lots of fun.
