2 strikes - it's out November 6, 2009 Ummagumma (US - the cold part) I ordered Huey to calibrate my CRT monitor. The original (manufacturer's) monitor profile was pretty accurate, I was mainly interested in Huey's ability to automatically adjust for ambient lighting.
Calibration with first unit created strong yellow cast.
The replacement unit sent by Pantone created even stronger green cast. I tried it on 2 different displays, under different lighting, same results.
Their customer service was trying to be helpful - no complaint there. But I had to return the calibrator. It simply does not work.
Good product, easy to use November 1, 2009 A. Jaspersen (Cheyenne, WY, USA) I bought this calibrator for personal use, particularly for color correcting my photos. I've been pleased with the simple interface the product uses for installation, calibration, and continuing color correction. I'd definitely recommend the product.
However, I was extremely disappointed with the time that Amazon took to send me the product. After signing up for the free shipping (said to take 5-7 business days), I did not receive my order for 12 business days (3 weeks after placing my order!) As this was my first order with Amazon, I'm more likely to head back to EBay to spend my money... the delay of getting my calibrator set me back in my work a few weeks longer than I had originally anticipated. Hopefully this was a fluke and not a normal occurrence.Pantone huey MEU101
The Pantone Huey is a worthy purchase October 28, 2009 Joseph P. Stutts (Brooklyn, NY) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy install. Easy to follow on screen directions and great results. I'm almost sorry I didn't go for the more expensive version.
Quick delivery and amazing product! October 13, 2009 Hollie N. Hanson (UT) I am a professional photographer and had just switched to a flat screen monitor for my editing. I noticed all my images were very off in color. leaning more on the red/maroon side. So I ordered this Huey and wow what a difference it has made!
And I love love love that I can set it to adjust to the rooms light on it's own. SO easy to use and great results!
Easy and works, but basic October 1, 2009 Taylor (Salt Lake City, UT United States) Pretty basic unit and a good starting point for color management. This is more for a home user than a professional as there are minimal settings. Just install the software (download latest update if you run vista), plug the huey into your USB, reboot, start the software, follow the directions, and thats it. There is one more step on tube monitors than flat panel, but it is still cake to use. I decided auto room light monitoring would be annoying so I turned that off. All in all very simple and seems to work well.
one thing to note - if you are used to a poorly calibrated monitor, the fixed one may seem too dark and and slightly color cast. But that is just relative to what you are used to, which is wrong. I see lots of negative posts about how it "turned my monitor pink", but that is likely because it was too yellow or blue before.
Bottom line: Cheap for calibration hardware, easy to use, and it works well enough for most amateurs. If you are into photography or graphic design, some color calibration is mandatory if you ever print or share your work.
