AWSOME November 1, 2009 Tammy G. Crandall If you like action, Disney and the age old Power struggle, you will love this game.
Kingdom Hearts II September 23, 2009 R. Buchanan (Korea) Perfect , mint condition. No defects. Excellent game as stated by an 8 yr. old and 12 yr. old boys. They love it. Thank you.
A masterpiece of Disney/Square fusion September 21, 2009 J. Cummings (San Antonio TX) Admittingly, I had played through this game without playing the original Kingdom Hearts. It wasn't until I started playing KH1 that I realized JUST HOW GOOD Kingdom Hearts II was in comparison.
It shockes me that IGN rated KHII as a 7.6 but gave the original a 9.1 Because KHII exceeds the original in almost every way possible.
First of all, do NOT think you need to be a Final Fantasy fan to enjoy this game. While it's cool to see those characters integrated in, it's not at all necessary. If you love Disney and action RPG's, you will love this game.
The single most frustrating thing with the original Kingdom Hearts was the CAMERA. Whoever decided in that build to map it to the L2/R2 buttons should have been fired. KHII fixed this perfectly by mapping it to the R Analog stick, and it just FEELS so natural.
The next frustrating thing about KH1 was the Gummi Ship levels, it was just gosh awful. KHII did a fantastic job and it's almost like a whole other game. Yes, it's still insanely frustrating to build your own Gummi Ship, but use the Falcon (I like the 2nd blueprint) and you should get through all the routes just fine (it's especially good for clearing the first 2-3 routes on subsequent go arounds).
Next, graphics and sound. If KHI cracked the barrier, KH2 smashed it in every way possible. Almost all of the Disney characters voices are spot on (and original in some cases). The actual venues themselves looks great, and color just pops out everywhere in the game.
There are a couple minor gripes, which I will list below:
- Munny is very hard to come by in most parts of this game. So be prepared to fight a lot if you want to make things easier for you.
- Along the same vein as munny, if you're working to synthsize a lot of things, you're going to be doing a LOT of backtracking through the levels. But it's not at all necessary to complete the main quest.
- Probably the one thing KH1 has over KH2 is a much harder difficulty. In fact, you pretty much can ignore using Sora's magic for most of this game and just use the X button. Most bosses end up being fairly easy if you use the combos of the charcters who join your party (Mulan, Auron, etc.).
- And yes, it is STILL a pain to design your own Gummi Ship.
But overall, this is by far one of the best action RPG's for the PS2, period, and I'm anxious to see what they have planned for KH3 with the next gen systems.
If your wife's a Disney fan, or if your kids are, and if you like good action RPG's, you cannot go wrong with this game. If you are a FF fan, this is a great game for you as well.
Must be the best game I have ever played.^.^ July 20, 2009 Okay first of all I love to play7 role games. My mom bought this game for me on my birthday at first I thought 'this looked dumb'. I started playing it and I LOVED it! Some of the bosses were hard but whats a game with out a challnge? Me and all my friends say that it is a must buy if you like role playing games and challnges. I have played the game so much that it does't work any more. I love it. It is the best game I have ever played 100 thumbs up!
So Much Fun! July 4, 2009 Super Shopper (Portland, OR USA) It's an addictive game. It's very fun to play and it makes a good game to play during the summer because it has a story. You also get to see some Disney characters like Donald Duck and Goofy, so when you play, kids like to watch you.
