Do not do business with ECTACO March 18, 2008

I ordered this product from ECTACO. The purchase price was $234.95 with free shipping plus they offered a free Lingvosoft Spanish Platinim Pack worth $129. When I received the TL-2S there was no Lingvosoft Spanish Platinum Pack. Moreover, they charged me $249.95, not $234.95 which is still listed on their website. I called they said they didn't know anything about anything regarding the price and that if I wanted the Lingvosoft Platinum Pack, I had to download it from the net. They sent me more than 20 websites to individually download each of the items in the pack. I declined.
I charged the battery of the TL-2S and tried to use the unit. It would not work. I called ECTACO. Their support people took me through a series of steps and determined that the unit was not working. They told me to return it under warranty. I said I wanted a refund. They said that department was not open on Saturday. I had to call the following Monday to get an RMA. I got the RMA and returned the unit. More than a week after they got the unit back,I still had no credit. I called they said the credit had been issued. I called my credit card company. They had no credit. I disputed the charge and 2 days later the credit appeared. ECTACO charged me over $25 for the original shipping even though the unit was defective plus I had to pay the return shipping. Possibly the worst issue was that the unit sold to me as new was apparently used or refurbished because the directions for setting the unit up clearly states that the memory card must be installed before the unit can be used. The memory card in my unit had been installed by someone before I received it. I'm betting they returned the unit and ECTACO sold it to me without even checking to see if it worked properly. Don't do business with ECTACO
