Product Description Solar-powered calculator for science and math Base conversion and calculations (Decimal, Hexadecimal, Binary, Octal) 15 Parentheses levels 3 memories 8 Physical constants Up to 4 pending operations Includes A76 battery (pre-installed), case and instructions
Amazon.com Product Description Ideal for students at every level, from junior high school algebra to college calculus, the Texas Instruments TI36 packs a lot of punch in a small, inexpensive unit. This solar-powered calculator combines features for statistical analysis, Boolean logic operations, and unit conversions in one sleek package.Math students will appreciate TI36X's ability to perform fractional equations and calculate angle units (radians, grads, degrees) when performing trigonometric functions. Everyone will find the calculator's English/metric conversions helpful. The TI36Xs single-line LCD is a little difficult to read when the unit is lying on a desk, and users in need of graphing functions will have to look elsewhere. Overall, however, for a calculator in this price range, the TI36X provides enough power for most high-level math and science needs.

Great Basic Scientific Calculator October 15, 2008 I've had this little gem for about 10 years. I got it at work and have used it off and on quite a bit over the last 10 years. It just started having an issue, but so much good times, I can forgive it.
I'll be getting another one soon. It's the perfect basic scientific calculator when you want good solid scientific capability, but not the overhead of a big fancy graphing calculator.
Awsome Calculator October 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great calculator for linear regression. I use it for pharmacokinetics and it works great! Highly recommend this calculator, especially for the price.

Advice to people just starting out in math, chemistry, or engineering: find a calculator you like and buy 3-4 of them. Between different manufacturers the layout of the keys are different as well as how you use them. I have had two of these that I have lost and have tried to use some other models, to no avail. For science majors, this calculator requires that you UNDERSTAND the mathematics a little in order to use it effectively, I think, since it only has a one (and a half?) line display. However, as pharmacy student and a BS in science, this calculator has every function you could possibly need aside from graphing, in which case you would probably have to buy a TI-86 (~$80?), but you'll probably be using excel or another program or pen and paper to do graphing in almost any environment. Real scientific graphing is a bit complex to be done on a monochrome calculator screen. This calculator is superior to the TI-30 (obviously) and has a Third function for every button (that little blue key in the upper left). It handles natural logs and base-10 logs pretty well.
I won't say that this calculator is better or worse than other brands, such as the Casio (cheaper), but if you have used TI in the past, this one is probably for you.
Did I mention it is solar so you don't have to worry about batteries? I've never had one go dead and have been using them for nearly 10 years now. I'd still have one if some idiot hadn't stolen mine out of my car!

Great Calc! March 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well this is my first solar calculator and I must say its ingenius!! Just think you'll never need batteries and it won't die on you in the middle of a test or project.
I used this for my statistics class and it is a great tool to have.
